@Opera-Comments-Bot I remember Opera Neon for Windows a long time ago! The same name as this one but not the same purpose. It was basically really light and modern.
Anyway, this is cool! - Blogs

RE: BestCodes Audio & Video DownloaderOpera add-ons
@mosinjack Glad you found it useful! Sadly it is only available in Opera Developer and Beta right now. I would love to get it in stable for everyone to use.
Is there anything you would change or improve about it?

RE: BestCodes Audio & Video DownloaderOpera add-ons
@leocg I'm still waiting for this to be reviewed in Opera Stable over a year and a half later. Is there something I should do?

@miissjackson: Why not just switch to Opera (not Opera Air) then? It has themes and tab islands and stuff.

RE: Opera 117.0.5405.0 developer updateBlogs
I'm using the
opera-developer
snap package. I use Ubuntu 24.Upon updating
opera-developer
yesterday, it wouldn't open. It was working fine before. I ran it via the terminal and got this error:opera-developer /snap/opera-developer/358/usr/bin/opera-developer: error while loading shared libraries: libpci.so.3: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory
I used snap run with
--shell
to look, and libpci.so.3 is indeed missing. Other browsers, such as Firefox and Chrome, have the library installed. The library is also installed system-wide:find /usr -name libpci.so.3 /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libpci.so.3
(I checked this with my package manager, too.)
I have also tried to remove and install (reinstall) the snap, which did not help. I can't downgrade (the
opera-developer
snap does rolling releases and does not keep previous versions, it appears), so I'm using Chrome () until things get working again.

RE: Opera 115.0.5322.109 Stable updateBlogs
@burnout426 I have the exact same issue. I'm using Opera Developer 117 on Ubuntu 24. I have an integrated GPU (built-in to the CPU, so not a dedicated one).

RE: Opera 115Blogs
@albano23
Opera Desktop has 3 variants. Opera Stable, Opera Beta, and Opera Developer.'Edge' is just a term used in the snapstore for the snap versioning system (just like tons of other apps use 'Beta', 'Alpha', etc.), so just ignore it and use the latest stable version if that's what you use.

RE: Opera 115Blogs
@albano23
Versioning with Snapcraft is weird, I've been there myself as a developer.
Just use the latest stable version. -
RE: Opera 115Blogs
@Submerstep I don't think that the Bookmarks Side Panel is horrible, but I do think it could use a lot of improvement (like your suggestions).

RE: Opera 115Blogs
Love it! The address bar bug was annoying, but since it was fixed in Opera Developer, I knew it was coming to Stable soon. Thanks!

RE: Opera will always help you block ads nativelyBlogs
@Opera-Comments-Bot Glad to hear this. I also won't have to learn Manifest V3 to make extensions (I was dreading that
).
Actually, I'm glad to hear this, since it really sets Opera apart from other Chromium-based browsers. Even non-Chromium browsers like Firefox are going to follow in Google's steps (because surely Google knows what they're doing?). But not Opera!
Keep up the good work.

RE: I cant figure out how to use the web page summarize feature on Mac browserLounge
@john-viv Your message is inaccurate, and it looks like it's AI generated.
- To go to settings, press
ALT + P
or access it from the Opera menu in the top left. - It's easier to search 'Aria' in settings. Regardless, it's not in the 'Features' section; the Aria settings are in 'AI services':
- Do Not use Aria in the sidebar. Aria currently can't get page context from there. Instead,
CTRL + /
(orCTRL + Shift + 7
), then pressTab
for page context and ask Aria to summarize the web page. - Aria will not block your request (the Aria UI or AI model might refuse to answer, but Aria gets page data from the browser — if you can see the page, so can Aria).
- There aren't older versions of Opera that “kinda” support page context. It was supported in the version described in this blog post:
https://blogs.opera.com/news/2024/03/new-ask-aria-ai-feature-drop-opera-one-page-context/
If you use AI to try to solve problems, you should at the very least make sure that the AI didn't lie to you.
