I want to delete a default search engine to shorten the list.
Seems not to work via settings, why is there no "delete" entry?
How can I do that?

They are protected so that malware/viruses can't mess with them.
Yeah, but I do not think malware would do that via the settings interface, clicking on menu items. And my precious manually added entries are not protected
Also, Opera has deals with the default search engines. Not allowing the user to delete them might be part of the deal. Opera has never said that though. It's just a guess.
Yes, that is what I was thinking, too. I can understand this, things like that are not uncommon, but its not convenient for me. This and cookie handling pushed me to switch to vivaldi browser on the desktop. Both things are better in vivaldi, looks like it is more user-friendly.
I hate to switch browsers, but getting open tabs and bookmarks from one to the other was not that much work. Interesting thing: operas former lead developer started vivaldi after internal problems, so I hope there is the good spirit that lasted until opera version 12.
To be fair, I prefer opera on my mobile device for its text wrap function when zooming in, this is very helpful. But that seems to be another story, I read there is a patent on word wrapping on a mobile device. Funny thing.

RE: Opera for Android 65Opera for Android
@werby Exactly.
All we need is a hierarchic tree of options/functions.
Yes funny about the exit button, it should be on the far left side.My main problem about changes like this is the time and manpower that went into it. Its a waste.
It would be better to help the user with cookies/local storage and so on, the user should be able to decide what happens on their device, not some remote site. -
RE: Better cookie managementSuggestions and feature requests
@leocg This extension might be an option, but it seems not to be sure if it works with opera. Infos on github differ, possibly related to opera versions.

RE: Better cookie managementSuggestions and feature requests
@leocg Thats disappointing, if opera is a 1:1 copy, what is it here for?

RE: Better cookie managementSuggestions and feature requests
@leocg I was hoping that opera wants to be ahead of chrome. Do you think that the feature I suggested would be helpful?

@bariton Session only cookies is already the exception, so I guess you can't make it the default behavior.
I think that's why my original post is in the suggestions section.
