@stateofreality downgrading to previous version did the trick. Sync working without issues. I won't update, till this be fixed.

- Download older version of Opera from their site
https://get.opera.com/pub/opera/android/9100/Opera_91_6_4817_85486_Generic_Opera_arm8_LZMA.apk - You have to turn off settings in your phone, if they are activated. Settings/Security and privacy/advanced protection - turn off device and account protection, otherwise you won't be able to install it manualy. These settings are preventing installation of applications outside of google play store. Account protecton disabling can take up to 24 hours according to Google information. If you have not turned these features on, you can install that downloaded opera apk immediately.
- Don't update until you know issue was fixed.
- Sign into your account for syncing and enjoy.
- Turn back on advanced protection settings if enabled before.
Hope this will help you. It worked for me.

@stateofreality after even further testing, the issue seems to be with sync, because if i login but don't sync it works fine, literally the moment i sync the app freezes and crashes and then just won't work, but if i don't sync it's still perfectly fine

@stateofreality
Have a look at this page. Before downgrade I did what they suggest on this pagehttps://forums.opera.com/topic/20590/how-do-i-reset-my-passphrase

@stateofreality so i finally fixed it, atleast for now, seems my sync was corrupted, had to completely reset the sync on my pc and phone, after doing that i re enabled sync and restored the data from backups and now the app is working great with sync on, whatever corrupted was fixed with a total reset

If Opera broke after opening a Google News link, it’s usually a corrupted profile or cached file. First, restart Opera and try clearing the cache. If it still crashes, launch it with flags disabled (opera.exe --no-sandbox --disable-extensions) to see if an extension is the cause. If it opens, turn extensions off one by one. If nothing helps, rename your Opera profile folder so Opera creates a fresh one, or reinstall the browser completely. Your bookmarks and passwords will sync back if you were logged in.
