Opera Tab Behaviour

Hello to you all.
I'm new here and to Opera and very pleased so far...except the improvements for the worse in Opera 28 (experimental Start page e.g.)
My question: Is there a possibility (an extension or a workaround) to open tabs (from links, bookmarks, etc.) always in a new tab in the foreground, without any shortcut key (I know, there is one!)? Something like Firefox with the "Tab mix plus" extension? I'm aware, that the tab structure in Opera (and other Chrome-based browsers) is different from Firefox. But if there is a shortcut key, why isn't it possible to "automatize" this shortcut in one click? -

Yes, I'd like to know this too. I think that was default back in iterations of Opera 12 and before.

- Download the Opera Chrome extension downloader
- Find your preferred foreground-tabs-opening extension and install it
- Enjoy the browser the way you like

No way! Almost with Opera 28. The most common extensions like "Tab activate" or "Tabs to the front" which I found and tested, have no effect! They are installed properly and are working, but Opera still opens only one tab by clicking or tapping...a link, bookmark etc...
Perhaps I'm too simpleminded to check it out?
