Mozilla posted an article one month ago in which they again confirm they'll keep MV2 addons
It is for this reason that if Opera changes its mind about the continual support of MV2 (or at least the most popular MV2 extensions such as uBO) and dumps it, I will be moving to Firefox. We don't have much longer to go to find out how Opera will truly handle things when Chromium ends MV2 completely after June 2025.

pilis00 last edited by@lancealot I really wish they will keep MV2 addons too, otherwise I'll have to move to Firefox as well. I moved from Chrome to Opera mainly after I saw that article.
Hopefully an Opera developer who is on this forum care reassure us once again, on this topic, that uBO remains on Opera.

Sounds very much like a promise, doesn't it? Not that I'm dependent on that, as I'm using the built in ad blocker - which is hit and miss.
Maybe at the end of the day it's simply their way to promote this native blocker anyway.

Isn't it still possible in Opera's own addon store? I think the announcement based on the fact, that they're still maintaining an independent own which gives them options to collaborate with deverlopers.

@pilis00 I don't think, they will really. They've got their own "Shields" - maintaining support for uBO MV2 wouldn't be necessary as they have their own solution which is a USP in a way and bringing them even more costs.
Honestly, in my opinion Opera shouldn't support every single extension that will continue having MV2, as long as they'll keep supporting uBO or AdGuard, as how Brave does, it's perfect.

Apparently also AdGuard confirms that MV2 will remain in Opera:
