Fellow Opera lovers,
what is the state of play in Youtube frustrating us with their useless ads.
Emptying caches and resetting did work for some time, but now even that fails. The ads used to skip themselves from the first frame to the last. Reloading the url now results in another ad being loaded.
I notice a difference in behaviour depending on the OS version. On OS 11.17 access blockage is total. On 14.x some YT videos play fine without ads.

@hermanblinkhoven As known, it's been a while that YouTuber is blocking adblockers, so issues kike that are kind expected.
Basically, adblockers are playing cat and mouse with YouTube. It changes something and adblockers stop working, adblockers adapt to the change and start working again, the YouTube changes again and everything starts over.

Leuchtfeuer812 last edited byOpera's adblocker is being detected on YT now - at least for me. YouTube says, I'm being blocked either as long as don't disable the blocker or as long as I'm going to pay for Premium. First time for me now. So far Opera has filtered out the ads very reliably.

Thanks for updating the post.
I keep trying to understand the situation. I use Opera on two different machines, with coordinated settings.
Both machines are Apple Macs.One machine has OS 11.7 and the YT blocking on this one is 100%, I cannot play a single YT video.
The other machine runs OS 14.0 and on this one the ads are not skipped, but run as 'dark blanks', for the duration of the add, a black screen appears with just the first and last frame of the ad being shown, without sound. -

@HermanBlinkhoven It hasn‘t happened on my Windows laptop so far. It’s still undetected. But on my MacBook it is. Same version of Opera and same settings.
