No smartphone to login on Messenger

Messenger requires the app on a smartphone to log in. I do not have or want to have a freaking smartphone. So is there any way to circumvent the problem?

@prizonbound Wouldn't that be more of a question for Messenger? I'll allow the post here, but this may not be the best place to ask.
