@serola Opera repeatedly reopening with a crash message might be due to a corrupted profile or extensions. To resolve it, clear the cache, disable extensions like uBlock Origin temporarily, or create a new user profile in Opera. If the issue persists, seek help from Opera's support or community forums.

@lily11 Thx for suggestions. After following your advice I get this marketing message-
Opera has recovered from a crash
We've just recovered from a crash, but to do it we had to disable your extensions. You can try to enable them again in the extensions manager. Sorry! -

I'm also getting the same problem on macOS 14 Sonoma. Going to use back Firefox unless it is settled. Too annoying to use the Opera One now.

@pootytang Annoying because it is an excellent browser. First problem in 4 yrs and it's as basic as not quitting.

Having the same re-opening issue. Just updated again thinking an update would fix, nope, same issue persists.

Can anyone tell me the most recent version of Mac Opera which doesn't have this bug - and how to then stop Opera auto-updates?

@chappie12345 And all the kind people who have written about this.
I downloaded the Developer Version and it kept freezing and a force quit required. That's it for me.at least until it is fixed.I am using Firefox and it works well.
Please report on this issue, I will check to see what has happened,Safari and Firefox in the locker.Opera taken off for now. -

@fallacyjoe To myself and others.I used AppCleaner for Mac, deleted Opera.Used EasyFind for Mac ,deleted what was left, files and folders..Used Onyx to clear the system.
Purged the lot, waited until Firefox annoyed me and downloaded the latest from Opera site.
It works, no bug!!
Never say never. -

Same problem here.
Tried with and without extensions, fresh profile, no dice.
Running High Sierra 10.13.6 on a mid-2011 iMac, the latest Opera download will not install, since it needs a more recent version of MacOS.
Therefore, a reinstall is not an option.

Every time I close Opera, the browser opens again. I don't have any crash messages, but these openings are unpleasant. Please help me.
My Mac and Opera are updated.

@senhorron Well it doesn't work well for you and that's bad.I am using Mac14.0 (23A344) and have only had a problem since updating to Opera One(version: 103.0.4928.16) (arm64).It has added several features to this update but it is buggy.
Let's see what happens. -

Uninstalling as we speak - apparently opera doesnt care enough to fix this - there are plenty of other browsers out there

@mitkoepich Right ready.Download AppCleaner.Download EasyFind.Download OnyX. They are all free, get to know them before the following-
Delete Opera using the Cleaner, all files and folders into bin.Go to EasyFind and put Opera into search.Select all and delete, it will delete hidden files and folders and the Mac System will not delete essential files etc,.
Using OnyX maintenance tick all boxes wait till it does its stuff and wait for computer to restart. Using Spotlight type in Opera and download Zip file from another browser-Safari?
Open with the Unarchiver app-free as well. Open the Opera browser and take it from there. As a Mac user you will love these free apps.As a bonus get to know Quicksilver.I hope this works for you . You can just use the Cleaner and Finder go to find Opera paths in about Opera..
If you delete the Opera app from Applications folder it wont work, many other files are left.
I am using a bug free Opera and hope this helps you because it is a wonderful Browser.I will not be defeated.2 days and reinstalled 4 times .Be careful if you are not confident with Macs.I have been using it since Jaguar and take risks because
I always Backup.
See what happens and post to me. Good luck! -

14.0 (23A344) has not been buggy and I have solved this problem using Mac running the latest OS.
Opera is my default. -

Same issue here.
I guess that since it keeps saying 'crash', it may mean that there are something running on the background which we don't know and 'they' are interrupted unexpectedly.
Therefore I close all tabs and then wait few seconds to let 'them' have time to stop running. It does work sometimes. However, it may take 30-60 seconds. It depends upon some mysterious reasons. I'm not a IT man so I have no idea.
You may try yourself and have good luck. -

Hey, we have identified issue with crashloop which is related to recent adblock list update. Next stable update will include fix for this but we have also rolled back adblock list update until client with fix is distributed. If you have adblock enabled then you would have been affected by this issue. To fix this now you can force adblock list update manually but pressing upate button on following pages:
- opera://settings/adBlockerLists
- opera://settings/trackerBlockerLists
