Have you tried the built-in 'Chrome PDF reader' to see if it exhibits the same freezing problem as the 'Adobe PDF reader' ?. Click the 'Disable' button under the Adobe plug-in and make sure the Chrome PDF plug-in is enabled to test.

EDIT: Ok, just saw your latest response. Try the above the other way round, Or maybe try another PDF plug-in, such as Foxit Reader, Sumatra PDF, Adobe Reader or PDF-XChange Viewer.

I just swapped to PDF-Xchange reader instead of Adobe (the Out of Date problem with Adobe in Opera) - had to use Developer tools menu to disable the other PDF plugins, then XChange took over. I've used it as an external reader for years, and highly recommend it. Download from Tracker software for the install.

          cheers,

          Miles

            Hi,

I have the same problem, the PDF tab feezes after coming back to it. When I open the PDF I can use it normally, the problem only occurs after switching to another tab and back (as the TO outlined). I work with Adobe Reader (latest version). I have already installed both Opera and the Reader again. Can I fix the problem on my own or do I have to wait for an update?
            Thank you!

Maybe try one of the suggested plug-ins I mention in my post above as an alternative to the Adobe one ?.

                PDF-XChange is also affected.
I noticed that a minimize and restore can heal the frozen tab.
By the way it is very annoying to do this over and over again.

Version: 26.0.1656.60 - Opera is up to date
                Update stream: Stable
                System: Windows 7 64-bit (WoW64)

Yes I've experienced this also with PDF-XChange. It does not happen with all pdf's though.

It's actually with pretty much all pdf extension in Opera. Doesn't matter if you're opening it with the HTML5 pdf viewer or document viewer or whatever tool you use to open pdf's with. I guess this is a Opera related problem 😞

Has anyone found a solution to this yet? This is an extremely annoying problem.

Just confirming that I also experienced this problem when using an Adobe Reading plugin that was in the plugins list. However, when I disabled that and left Chrome PDF Viewer enabled, the problem has resolved (thus far).

It's a known issue. All NPAPI plugins are affected. It's fixed internally already and will be available to you in next update :ninja:

If you right click and select reload it becomes usable again, how long for the next update I wonder as this is quite a pain ?

                              Let's wait for next update.
I'm also experiencing this problem with DjVu browser plugin.
And this does not happen with Opera Developer.

I had this exact same problem!

The fix, for me at least, was to resize the window. I couldn't believe it at first, either, but after doing it to several frozen PDFs, it looks like it works.

This is for Chropera 26.0.1656.60 and (Cr)A(p)dobe Reader 11.0 on my system, your mileage may vary.

EDIT: Also try minimizing and then bringing it back, that seems to work too.
