Thanks for the information! I'm glad to understand the current status. I cast a vote for the fix, though it certainly doesn't sound like it's high priority, unfortunately.

Opera 26 - Open vs. save a file?Opera for Windows
Back in older versions of Opera, when we clicked on a file (i.e., a *.docx file), we had the option to Open or Save the file. Now in Opera 26, when we click on a file, we're taken straight to the "Save As" dialog, with no option to open the file directly. Is there a way not to default to saving a file, and to have the option to open it directly? Or is this another thing that we're not (yet?) able to do in version 26? There are plenty of documents one may need to open briefly but not save anywhere on the computer (other than, I assume, the autosaving in temporary downloads). It's an extra and necessary step...
Thanks for any information that you have!

RE: Tab with pdf open keeps freezingOpera for Windows
Just confirming that I also experienced this problem when using an Adobe Reading plugin that was in the plugins list. However, when I disabled that and left Chrome PDF Viewer enabled, the problem has resolved (thus far).

An option to never save history (without using a private window)Suggestions and feature requests
Hello there,
I'd like to (strongly) suggest that privacy settings be updated such that we can set browsing history to never be saved without needing to use a Private Window. Using a Private Window does stop history from being saved, but it also stops Recent Tabs to be saved, which is problematic, as recent tabs are useful, and are not directly related to making sure history is not saved from session to session. The ability to set the number of history entries saved (or amount of time history is saved for) was a feature in prior versions of Opera, and in pretty much every other web browser. It is an important security option and setting for many users, and it is frustrating and concerning that we are no longer able to do this. I know that it is possible to manually clear browsing history, but that shouldn't be something we need to manually do every time we finish browsing. This is a basic browser functionality/privacy setting that many people need and use, and I very much hope you add it back in to future updates.
Thank you very much.

Never save history (without private window) in Opera 26Opera for Windows
Hi folks,
How can we configure Opera 26 to never record browser history, but still save recent tabs during a current session?
I know that using a Private Window stops history from being saved, but recent tabs are then also not saved - which is not an acceptable trade-off, for my usage at least. In prior versions of Opera, there was the option to choose how many history entries should be saved - and we could choose '0' to ensure that history wasn't saved. The only way I've been able to figure out how to ensure history is not saved is to use a Private Window, but a) there is the aforementioned problem with that also not saving recent tabs, and b) even if that weren't a problem, there doesn't seem to be an automatic way to always use a Private Window.
Is this no longer an option? I'm working hard to be open-minded about the many changes that came with Opera 26, but this seems like a pretty basic setting that should be available. Have I just missed how to do this?
I know there is an extension that is supposed to be able to turn history recording on and off (https://addons.opera.com/en/extensions/details/history-onoff), but sharing all of your browsing history with an extension in order to delete it also doesn't make a lot of sense.
I know I can manually delete the history at the end of every session, but that really shouldn't be necessary/there's no way that's an acceptable alternative to just having a setting to not save history. Even an option to auto-delete history on exit, maybe?
Thanks for any thoughts or help that you have.
