How do I get back to the old Opera? The new one has deleted my Password Manager, bookmarks, and speed dial.
To go back to the old Opera browser because the new version deleted your data:
- Back up your bookmarks and passwords.
- Uninstall the current Opera version.
- Download and install an older version.
- Import your saved data.
- Consider reaching out to Opera support if you face issues.

I have reached out , and followed instructions. I don't think I have ever run into a group of developers that code like this. Most companies / developers will at least inform you that an upgrade is required and is underway . To me this company is just being underhanded and deceitful at this point by performing an upgrade even when upgrades are disabled by the user as instructed by the company! To me , I think its desperation (investors) pressuring a company in a certain direction at all costs.Just an FYI, I have been in SQA ( Software Quality Assurance ) as a QA test engineer for over 20 yrs on MS storage Sans and Hyper-V / Clusters . I started In QA (officially) when Windows 4.0 first supported a 2 node cluster , that was around 1998 or so.
I've been at NEC, Adaptec, Clariion/EMC Dell (QA and Customer Support), EquaLlogic , Stratus, Pfizer . I performed MS WHQL tests for driver signatures , assisted in writing several papers on best practices for iSCSI MPIO in a cluster for and with the MS team.
Performed a ton of testing when MS transitioned from scsiport driver to storport for MPIO. (multi-pathing for storage)My expertise is specifically in enterprise storage (RAID) attach via SCSI , iSCSI , Fibre Channel SAN storage in MS cluster.
Don't take that as boasting or anything like that , but , I'm not a newbie . I've tested a lot of software . Including beta testing MS releases of Windows 2000 server ( clusters), 2003 , ect.
Lastly, before I dump Opera , I am going to try some Wireshark network traces just to see what is happening in the background.
My guess is if the browser is open , eventually it contacts Opera servers to check code base anyway. I say this because I just about never reboot my system nor close my browser. until, it starts acting ODD, like I cant place an order or something. Then I close the browser , reopen and bam I'm on Opera one! -

@tenorlove Here you can find older versions: https://get.opera.com/ftp/pub/opera/desktop/
Be sure to delete/rename the autoupdate file in the opera folder and launch opera installer with the " --launchopera=0" parameter.Mate, thanks!!. After reading how to delete the default, do this and do that...definitely It worked. Lost quite important info with last auto update

@tenorlove I'm in the same boat. Lost everything when I opened Opera to find a surprise update with all my settings missing even after I logged into my account. I'm looking at alternatives.

Have Opera themselves weighed in on this matter?
Do they know?
Do they care? And is there even a place where they qill pay attention to their alienated users?

@mm-sec his solution worked for me. No uninstalling, just updating to the version he linked. Be careful because that is temporary, the auto updater will do it again, you have to disable it. He provides also a solution which i hadn't tried yet, and i have seen more around. Let's see if we are able to disable the updater...

Thanks.
I managed to restore it for now - I renamed Default.old in Default and vice versa, and everything showed up, but the folder has already been renamed in Default.old again. -
