      hello
after I installed version 18 [and now updated to version 19] I can no longer find the option to move the opera cache to a desired location
from what I understand by default its located in [windows 7] users\<profile name>\AppData\Local\Opera Software\Opera Stable\Cache

however about:config typed in browser doesnt list the option to change the path as it used to do in previous versions

also Preferences file located in users\<profile name>\AppData\Roaming\Opera Software\Opera Stable\ doesnt have a corresponding string which could be altered

is there this funcionality/option to move the cache in the new opera? or has it been completely removed?

The command line parameter --disk-cache-dir=T:\opera\cache19 to launcher.exe changes the cache directory for me to another disk. The downside with this config is that the parameter must be added to every command where Opera is run from: every LNK shortcut, associations for *.htm files, HKLM\Software\Clients\StartMenuInternet for the Open With menu, etc. Otherwise Opera launched from those locations will use a copy of the cache in the original location.

thx a lot for the tip j7nj7n -- this method does work

however Id love the previous option/functionality back in action -- any developers out there care to comment on the issue?

You can also use a program called junction (by Sysinternals).

I've just moved it using a Symlink (mklink in Command prompt). Link is in place on C:, and the cache is working - so far.

                  Hello.

Im on WIN8 (I tried upgrade to win 10, but my PC crashed) - 36.0.2130.65 - Opera is up to date

                  https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc753194.aspx

I have found this MLINK command, & i'm wondering

                  a) What is the difference between a Symbolic link & a hard link ?

                  b) Do i just use this command ONCE & it will stay in effect until i change it (no matter how many times i reboot)

or, do i need to run the command each time ?

My cache directory is - C:\Users\gordon\AppData\Local\Opera Software\Opera Stable

                  & i'll want it to be F:\Opera

I'm guessing the command i use is :-

                  mklink /d \F\Opera \Users\gordon\AppData\Local\Opera Software\Opera Stable

Is that right ? (i'll await reply re symbolic / hard link)

You only need to do MKLINK once! (per operating system installation (if you reinstall Windows make sure to redo MKLINK))

It's a shame Opera doesn't allow cache to be changed from app settings. Opera developers don't know how to do such a feature.

Also I requested Tab stacking feature, finally dev from Opera replied basically stating that they don't have the know how.

And I believe that. Vivaldi browser has Tab stacking made by ex-Opera dev.
