Like the title says, my Opera updated overnight even though I have auto updates turned off, and it ate everything. My browsing history, all my saved bookmarks and speed dial folders, my saved passwords, as if it did a fresh install and never had any of these in the first place. I am extremely not happy with this and if anyone knows a way to restore even just my bookmarks and speed dial, I would be incredible appreciative. I'm just frustrated and upset and very much thinking about dropping Opera altogether now even though its a browser I've enjoyed greatly up to now.

What?! where are all my passwords and bookmarks, are you kidding me?!
No warning, just all gone, no work done spent the day trying to find my research and my log ins! Did you employ Elon Musk?
No, just no! -

The v. 102.0.4880.16 installation is a disaster! Syncing helps, but a lot is messed up..
Here's my question:
1. Speed Dial: After syncing, I can access my Speed Dial by clicking Bookmarks. It's listed there with Speed Dials from phones & tablet. How do I restore this PC's Speed Dial links to the current Speed Dial tab? Surely we don't have to open each link & re-save to Speed Dial??!!!
~Edit~
In looking at Speed Dials in Bookmarks, In the Speed Dial drop-down list, I see that this installation has created a 2nd (new) Speed Dial folder with a name identical to the folder used before this update was installed. I'm going to mess with it. Will let you know what happens...
Step 1: Deleted new Speed Dial folder.
Result: A new empty folder of the same name was created at the top of the Speed Dial drop-down list.I don't think there's a way to recover #2 or 3
2. Workspaces: All Workspaces are empty. The Workspaces are still there, but every tab in each workspace is gone
3. Pinned tabs... all gone! -

Hello,
I have a backup of the booksmarks file, and I have done this before, following directions for a full opera backup. In tracking issues the wifes comp died, but had backed up her main drive, so I have the data. This is a new install of Windows10 64 Pro, when i coped the booksmarks back over to C:\users%username%\appdata\roamng\opera software\opera stable*
I have done this before and t worked fine. This time there bookmark bar is not showing and the booksmarks are gone as well.
When I opened the bookmarks file in Notepad++ can see the different links and if they are just bookmarks or on the bar as well.
I have never seen this error before, any advice? Comp it came from was the same OS and install media.

After updating Opera all my tabs are gone. Browsing history is deleted. And my account didn't back up the tabs, etc well.
It is a big problem for me.
Any chance to recover them?
I see I need to install an addon.
Thanks in advance.

@stupot123 It happened the same to me. Opera was actualized to Opera One and everything is gone.

So I wasn't aware that opera was going to have a massive software update. Normally, I would open Opera and have all my tabs recovered like it usually does, but it didn't.
I was shocked to see that my browser was wiped clean. No tabs, no bookmarks, no history, nothing.
Is there a way to recover this? I had my opera sync on but I don't exactly know how to recover it from there. Moreover, I had huge amounts of tabs opened in five different workspaces specifically for different types of work/topics like one specifically for studying, others for my work, and I need them badly.
The tabs showed in my sync content weren't even exactly as I had left my browser. Is there like a recovery option from the source files? A record of my old sessions? I did roam around the source files but I'm not exactly sure what to do with the files since they are just "file"s.

Opera automatically updated my desktop browser and on update I lost all my bookmarks, sites, settings, extensions. ALL LOST!
I'm extremely disappointed.I've been using Opera for years and I'm going to delete this crap from my computer and phone. I'll have to waste a lot of time trying to remember everything and recover what I lost.
Crap amateurs.

@aimzz I have not seen anything where Opera have acknowledged there was a problem with the accounts, those of us who were syncing and still lost everything need some resolution.
Can you imagine a bank losing all your banking info and suddenly having no idea what you had in your account? Yeah, that. This weekend I missed deadlines with work and that will not stand with me, I will be off as soon as I have all I need.
My work around was to find an old version of Opera, and without closing the browser for the last few days screen shot passwords, and downloaded the file, and downloaded bookmarks. If I close the browser numpty Opera will return. So if you are in need of this solution, leave your comps on and leave the browser open until you have everything you need.
