Ctrl W closing multiple tabs

Recently pressing Ctrl W sometimes closes more than one tab or even the whole window containing many tabs, has anyone else experienced this?

@apn73 There has specifically been a post that using Ctrl-W to close the last tab in a workspace closes the browser window, the others I don't know ...
