To open search results in a new tab without using the ALT key:Right-click the link and choose "Open Link in New Tab."
Middle-click (mouse wheel click) the link.
Use Ctrl + Left-Click (Cmd + Left-Click on Mac) on the link.
Adjust browser settings for link behavior. These methods work across various browsers.

@ghosten Are you talking about when you type something in the address field to search for it and press alt + enter to open the search results page in a new tab where you don't want to have to press alt to do that?

@ghosten In www.google.com (or in your local page) click on settings in the bottom right and then on Search Settings. There you can enable the option to open results in a new page.
