How to set up Opera Cashback wallet?
-

I've read the instructions, they're unclear.
Firstly, what are points? Are they the same as cashback rewards? Or do I get points and rewards when I shop, then the points make me get more rewards next time? This is a very confusing mess.
Secondly, I can't set it up, I read the instructions at https://help.opera.com/en/touch/crypto-wallet and can't make sense of them. I don't know what "Opera Touch" is. I have Opera in Windows, just a normal browser. I don't use it on a phone. Everything refers to iOS and connecting two things together, I just use Opera on one device, Windows.

@hucker Go to https://cashback.opera.com/ and login using your Opera account. Your "wallet* will be in the top right.

@leocg Got it thanks, I seem to have created a wallet now, and it contains points with the value I already had due from cashback. So points and rewards and cashback are three words for the same thing?
How do these bonuses work? It says as I get more points I get bigger bonuses, and if I withdraw the money, I retain my bonus. But what about reaching a higher bonus? Do I need to keep the points in the wallet so I can reach the next level?

@hucker Maybe https://cashback.opera.com/br/profile?page=operaPoints can help.

So here, I'm getting 10% extra, and when I get to 2000 points, I'll get 20% extra.
But if I withdraw the fiver in the account now, does that mean that points bar will fall back to zero? It claims it will keep the bonus level, but do I lose the progress towards the next bonus level? -

@leocg I think "If saved rewards are withdrawn from the cashback account, the status and cashback rate do not decrease." means if I take the money out, that bar stays where it is, so I'm not punished for removing money, like I would in a savings account for example.
Since it's a crypto wallet, does it have to be left open like others? Opera doesn't stay open when the window is closed (unfortunately, since it would start faster too).
This could get quite lucrative, I already get 4.5% on AliExpress. Now it'll be 6.75%.

They may be similar to cashback rewards.
The instructions you received appear to be specific to Opera Touch, a mobile browser for iOS and Android. If you are using Opera on a Windows device and not Opera Touch, the setup process may be different. I recommend visiting the Opera browser's official website or the browser's settings menu for specific instructions on setting up a cashback wallet in the Windows version of Opera.
I apologize for any inconvenience caused by the lack of clarity in the instructions provided.

@hucker I don't think it's a crypto wallet, but just a wallet. Your cashback wallet.
I read something about it being a crypto wallet when I was signing up for it for cashback, it said something about it holds multiple crypto currencies. Opera definitely has a crypto wallet, here: https://help.opera.com/en/touch/crypto-wallet/

@smithhavel I think I found those instructions by googling, probably came across a page nested deeper in the instructions, which should be seen after having selected the type of browser.
I originally clicked "see your transactions" in a link from one of the emails I get whenever I get points approved (is that done manually by a human by the way?). Then I spotted a reference to the wallet and tried to do what it said, but it failed in some way, it said something to do with I didn't have it switched on in the sidebar, and gave me a button to enable it. I clicked the button, then tried again, but it hadn't enabled it. Then I had to google.

@hucker This is a common structure for instruction manuals or guides, where information is organized based on different scenarios or options. If you need further assistance, feel free to provide more details, and I'll be happy to help.

The bit which needs fixing is the button I clicked to set it up, which I saw on the "see your transactions" page from an email stating I've had some cashback approved - I then clicked something to join my wallet and it failed to enable it. Somehow following leocg's instructions it got enabled ok.

To set up Opera Cashback wallet, follow these steps:
Install Opera Browser: Make sure you have the Opera browser installed on your device. If you don't have it, you can download and install it from the official Opera website (https://www.opera.com/).
Enable Crypto Wallet: Open Opera Browser and click on the Opera menu icon (three horizontal lines in the top-right corner). From the menu, select "Settings" and then click on "Advanced" in the sidebar. Under the "Features" section, enable the "Crypto Wallet" option.
Create a Wallet: After enabling the Crypto Wallet, click on the wallet icon in the Opera toolbar. If this is your first time using the wallet, you'll be prompted to create a new wallet. Follow the instructions and set up a secure password for your wallet.
Enable Cashback: Once your wallet is created, go to the Opera menu again and select "Settings." In the sidebar, click on "Advanced" and then choose "Opera Rewards." Enable the "Opera Cashback" option to start earning cashback while shopping online.
Verify Cashback Partners: To ensure that you earn cashback from eligible purchases, make sure your favorite online stores are listed as Cashback Partners. Open the Opera wallet and click on the "Explore" tab. From there, you can see a list of partner merchants and their cashback rates. If your preferred merchants are not listed, you may need to shop through the Opera browser to earn cashback.
Shop and Earn: Now that your Opera Cashback wallet is set up and your preferred partners are verified, you can start shopping online as you normally would. Whenever you make a purchase from a Cashback Partner, you'll automatically earn cashback in your Opera wallet.
Check Cashback Balance: To view your earned cashback, open the Opera wallet and click on the "Rewards" tab. You can see your total cashback balance and the transactions associated with each earning.
Note: Cashback earnings may take some time to reflect in your wallet, as it depends on the individual merchant's verification and payment process.
That's it! You have now successfully set up Opera Cashback wallet and can start earning cashback while shopping online. Enjoy the benefits of the Opera browser's built-in rewards program.
