@forestworker90 You can go to the page, right click on its search field and use the create search option.
Or you can go to the search engines section in settings page and add the search engine manually.

@forestworker90 It would be interesting to see vertical tabs back in Opera but only if they were like before, including the option to use visual tabs

FORESTWORKER90 last edited by FORESTWORKER90@himmelsheriff Tried that not once but several times. Complicated and not useful as reading list in the sidebar in chrome. I could never relocated the saved pins again plus I use the saved links in reading list for instant access unlike bookmarks like youtube videos to watch later at night.

@himmelsheriff what is the point of adding but not able to set them as default? Do you buy phones for look or for usage?

@forestworker90 Yeah I agree with that one. I mean im not really mad about that default thing because I have no issue with Google search as default but you have a point.
But what is really bothering me is that you cant delete some preinstalled search engines so you cant use its shortcuts. For example I would rather use "y" for youtube search and not for yahoo because yahoo is useless for me. -

I see opera dev team being lazy in bringing vertical tabs when one also uses opera for work.
I cant see tabs once they get past the display size of my laptop and browser but with vertical, I can.

@airforce25228 youtube as search should have been there for years but yahoo. it is ancient plus it brings results from bing as duckduckgo also does, no changes.

@forestworker90 Constantly crashing on doing anything within browser. Opera is crashing since 98 and is doing same with Opera one dev was launced. I wonder if team is looking into resolving this or is this a feature since tabs and sessions are lost post crash.
And wasting a lot of empty spaces. I think Opera hired newbie developers for opera one. Earlier was simple, never crashed and didnt wasted anything. I wonder why Opera one exists if it is all same and buggy.

@forestworker90 Or maybe they haven't seen enough demand to justify reintroducing vertical tabs yet.
It may also be that the new UI is a step into allowing placing the tabs bar in the sides.

@leocg demand is one thing and usage and request is another. And you are saying demand as if Opera has big userbase? I messaged and requested to Brendan Eich and his dev several times like I did to you and your team but who cared for users. Brave. I am not dev but your team has so is a simple thing to do.

@forestworker90 Nor Opera nor any company has to implement everything that is requested. If they don't think that the costs and efforts to add or change something will be worthwhile, they probably won't accept the request.
So, if they don't think that there's enough demand, that the feature won't be used by an amount of users that would worth the implementation efforts, they probably will not add that requested feature.

@leocg I dont want to argue but please tell me which features your team has added in last 5 years. It is all same, esp for desktop. I was also hoping for immersive reader TTS read aloud for webpages like edge has but looks like, it is not worth it. For dyslexic and autistic people, opera isnt meant to me.

@forestworker90 As you should know already, I don't work for Opera and, therefore, I don't have a team to add anything.
Now, talking about features that Opera have introduced recently, I can say Pinboards, messengers in sidebar, snapshot, workspaces, tabs search, force dark pages, built-in VPN, and so on. -

@forestworker90 Regarding having a feature to read aloud pages, I don't know how things are nowadays but it used to cost lots of money to be allowed to have such tool, due to the licenses that would have to be bought.

Pinboards, - Could never found it useful or use it anyway. First you have find it and then use it. If you dont know it, then you dont this feature. For reading list, you can access it via right click on the tab and see on the sidebar. Easy, visible and useful and cross syncing.
messengers in sidebar, - I dont use facebook and those who use, will not use opera for facebook.
snapshot, - Chrome introduced this in flags via Desktop Screenshots Edit Mode, cant find anything new.
workspaces, - Just like Pinboards, it is useless, unreliable and doesnt work as promoted. If I vision WS as profiles, then it should be differentiate between users. If main profile or main crashes, then all workspaces crashes and all is lost. Plus WS, hangs the opera and device seriously. I used it once and lost my data.
tabs search, - Chrome has it for years near the top 3 right buttons. If it could safeguard tabs lost in crash or closed accidentally in a new section, then I can say it is a opera feature.
force dark pages, - chrome://flags/#enable-force-dark. This was introduced by chrome.
built-in VPN, - Good, was better but past 1 year, it is slower than other free vpns. Plus google shows recaptchas and sites know real location. So, it is more of proxy than a VPN. Plus do a google search within opera browser about opera VPN and you will see good news about it.
I am talking Opera specfics not the ones introduced or made by Google and chrome team like vertical tabs in brave is brave team's USP, vertical tabs in edge is Edge team's USP.
