Password manager not saving passwords

A new computer, Lenovo, Opera is not saving my passwords. Yes-the feature is checked in settings. Just now, I logged in to Opera, by entering email and password. The notice above to save password was not visible. Looking in password settings, the Opera site info did not exist.
After logging out and re-log back in, the autofill put in my email address but did not have the password. This seems to be an old problem as there are many similar problems, but no resolutions. Opera is up to date.

Goto the URL
opera://about
, take note of the "profile" path, close Opera, and delete the "Login Data" file in the profile folder. That will wipe out the password file that seems to no longer be readable/writable by Opera and Opera will create a fresh one. -

@pdw Only thing I've been able to discern is it has something to do with "Fill passwords across affiliated websites."
F.E.
Opera will not offer to save passwords for:
"https://www.disneymovieinsiders.com/"But it will fill in the login info using the credentials from an affiliated website:
"https://member.disneymovieclub.go.com/"Why this is the case or how to get around this, I still have no clue.

Weird, I was able to log in with my user and password in the Opera system. I don't know when the login credentials got activated.
I do not have a Microsoft account installed.
Note: When I click on the Opera menu icon, it shows in the list of options "signed in as pdw". I have never seen that before.
I have exited Opera and restarted it many times since I opened this problem so don't know when the password became active.
