https://forums.opera.com/topic/38588/solved-how-do-i-copy-my-speed-dial-to-a-new-pc supposedly answers this question with a very simple procedure--copying over the bookmarks from the old PC.

But it doesn't work. I'm running V 97.0.4719.63 on a new Windows tablet and when I do this with Opera closed and restart Opera it simply gives me the standard starter Speed Dial screen with the gratis and promotional speed dials. Additionally, I tried copying over the whole appdata\roaming\opera software\opera stable folder and that didn't work either.

My speed dial is my go-to screen on Opera on Windows (and Android, but that's another story) and consists of orderly arranged groups and single dials.

@dld44 There is no way to do it automatically, you need to manually copy them from Other Speed Dials and paste into Speed Dial in the bookmarks manager page (opera://bookmarks).

@leocg Well, that works. I stumbled across this a few years ago and could not duplicate it yesterday. I got to the bookmarks manager by right-clicking on the Speed Dial page and selecting Bookmarks, which is easier to remember than using opera://bookmarks, as I haven't found a way to bookmark this command. I then selected/copied single or multiple bookmarks and bookmark groups, went to the main Speed Dial in the manager, and did a Ctrl-V to paste. This operation even retained the icon associated with the Speed Dial entry.

But I don't understand something. I must be syncing bookmarks among all my devices from time to time, else why would these fairly recent Speed Dial entries for new (and old, no longer existent) devices appear in the manager? As far as I know, I haven't synced lately because I usually end up with a massive amount of duplicate bookmarks. But that is a problem to be pursued elsewhere when I find time.

There are several, perhaps many, online responses to the problem of duplicating Speed Dials, some, including at least one on this Opera forum, marked "[Solved]" that say to simply export/import or copy the bookmarks file in the Opera appdata profile to the new device. I would very much like to see my thread or a similar thread embellished to indicate that the other "solution" does not work and that this is the way to do it!

          Thank you.

@dld44 please help me. I still don't understand how to move my speed dials to my new laptop. I don't seem to grasp your instructions.

I'll do what I can, but my memory being what it isn't, I have to go through the procedure myself, and I don't have a lot of time. If your Opera settings are different from mine where my instructions don't work, I can't help.
                Here goes:

                1. I assume you exported your bookmarks from the old device and have imported into the new laptop.
                2. On your new laptop either right click on your speed dial page and select Bookmarks or get to bookmarks from the Opera icon on the top left of your Opera screen.
                3. You will see a folder list of bookmarks in your left Opera pane. Your new speed dial should be near the top. Click on the right arrow and open it if it is already populated, just to make sure you are looking at the correct speed dial. You will now see your current (new laptop) speed dials in Opera's right pane.
                4. You will see Other Bookmarks>>Imported>>Speed dials. Open it. You should now see all your imported speed dials in Opera's right pane.
                5. When you hover over any speed dial, individual or group, you will see a check mark in the upper left. Select it for any single speed dial you want to transfer.
                6. If you want to transfer all of the speed dials, go to the bottom right of your imported speed dials, place your curser below and to the right of the displayed bookmarks, click and hold left mouse button and drag all the way to the top left, thereby selecting all speed dials.
                7. Click and hold left mouse button again and move the speed dials to your new speed dial folder displayed in the left Opera pane (Step 3).
                  I hope this helps.

@djoegio Thanks for you help but I keep getting stuck here: ''You will now see your current (new laptop) speed dials in Opera's right pane''. Nothing shows in the right pane.

In my case, after importing bookmarks I've found my old speed dial in Bookmarks bar > Imported > Speed Dials folder

@djoegio Eventually it worked by going to opera://bookmarks, deleting all old versions of my speed dials, copying the latest imported one and pasting it in the right folder. I understand now that one of my problems was that I'm using a Dutch language version of Opera. Speed dials are called 'snelkiezers' here and I confused these with 'favorites' (bladwijzers). Thanks for all your help!

Did not find any 'panes', but got there in the end.
                          Import your .html exported 'bookmarks'.
All your speed dials will appear as a folder in the 'Bookmarks Bar'.
Also as a folder in the 'Imported' bookmarks folder.
I bined the sponsored speed dial defaults then individually moved the speed dial items/folders from the imported to the speed dial content.

@dld44 Thanks for this, I kept dragging the old Speed Dial to the new Home Page when I just needed to drag it to the new Speed Dial through Bookmarks management, Ty!
