Often times when I start the Browser, the Splashscreen appears with one of the loudest sounds on my entire PC.
Both Browser Sounds and the Splashscreen are disabled.

In other threads I read, that Opera GX forces the Splashscreen after Updates.
Is there a way to get rid of that?
(If not, is there a way to relay this as Feedback?)

It's intentional and there's no way to get rid of it. It's also known by Opera that some users don't like not being able to turn it off for updates.

"Opera" may know that that while "some users don't like" having their browser randomly make loud noises with no warning and no control, but what they refuse to acknowledge is that no one actually likes this ridiculous nonsense.

Depending on when and where you happen to be when this happens, it can be just annoying or embarrassing, but it is never something anyone in their right mind would want.

We were told this was going to be removed from the next version -- but it has not been. I just had it happen again today.

@xaunloc Seems to me it should be possible in Windows to mute just the Opera startup app, though as adjusting volume on an individual app requires they be playing a sound while you have Volume Control open it isn't exactly trivial. Still, if it persists through updates that would be an option.

@sgunhouse -- I had not thought about that, but the two problems that come to mind are:

              1. Knowing when to catch it. One of the annoying things about the noise (besides being loud) is that there is no way to know when Opera has upgraded itself in the background and feels the need to shout about it on the next startup.
              2. Wouldn't muting the app, mute the app? I don't have any desire to permanently silence Opera on every website I visit, I only want rid of the ridiculously stupid loud noise it makes on startup after each update.

@xaunloc The startup animation is actually its own app. And of course you could simply enable the startup animation for purposes of muting it. The problems are the startup sound only lasts 2-3 seconds so you need the Volume Mixer open somewhere that the animation won't cover it before you start, and the still pending question of whether the setting will apply after an update.

Yes, I currently have the startup animation enabled and muted, and sounds in GX continue to work. Took me about 5 tries to get the Volume Mixer positioned, find the correct mute icon when it appeared, and then of course prove it worked as desired - so far.

@sgunhouse -- OK, that seems a bit better, but still a combination of a lot of work and some luck. It would be a lot better if Opera had developers with some sort of common sense.

@xaunloc Oh, I agree. But I'm not an Opera employee, not even in the same hemisphere, so I do what I can. There was a post saying Opera One version 112 will haxe the option to disable the animation, but that may or may not apply to GX and GX is still at 109. So until then ..,.

@xaunloc Well, answers that question. Unfortunately, the sound was back after the latest update (which I just installed).
