Suddenly, since yesterday, I cannot drag tabs to another browser window anymore... and this is super annoying for me as I'm used to doing this all the time. It is only me? Any suggestion? Opera is my favorite browser by far but this issue alone might prompt me to change to another one ๐Ÿ˜•

@leocg It does not work for me, and I see another post with a person with the same issue. Is the first time this is happened to me and Iยดve been using Opera for years.

Later I will update my Geforce driver since there is a long time I do not, is the only thing I can think about.

@leocg When you grab a tab from a window of the browser and drop it into another window of the browser on the tabs zone, it should get dragged there. This is not possible anymore for me, it just becomes a new opened window. In other words: I cannot drag and drop tabs between windows anymore.

@palencar Just checked and it seems to be working here, you need to drop it on the left of the new tab button.

@leocg I could see that it is working as you said, just when placing on the left of the "+", but very close to it!, and also sometimes in the very small space inbetween other tabs... but that actually fails a lot and sometimes is not possible, and for the left of the "+" now you have to aim a lot which is annoying for my speed flow, while before I (and I guess everyone) could just drop it everywhere in the bar and it would get dragged right away. But yes, at least is working... so I may not change opera for now, but will see... it is still very annoying and quite worst compared as it was before, really a big downgrade. Maybe this was causing another issues and they decided to do it like this now, dunno.. but I just hope some day it will come back as before ๐Ÿ˜ž

I currently encounter the same "problem". Also thought It does not work but after reading it here also realize that you have to drop the tab left of the "+" button. This seems to be a recent change and I really dislike it and it is not at all intuitive. I do not want to be precise when just moving a tab from one window to the next.

It it generally a bit unresponsive with a noticeable delay before the dragged tabs "docks" into the tab bar. So it takes a bit and now you actually have to "think" about where to put it since it depends on the number of tabs open.

I got used to the slight delay but this now is feeling very bad from a user experience point of view. If people actually ask if the feature is broken, while it is not, you know you designed something not intuitive.

I still don't want to believe this is actually intended since it is such a bad design. So hope it will be fixed in the future.

@leocg said in Suddenly I cannot drag tabs to another browser window anymore:

you need to drop it on the left of the new tab button.

                        And that is the problem.

You should be able to drop the tab anywhere on the green area, not just on that tiny red area:

                        Tab Drop Area.jpg

Also, the area for drop should extend over the address bar a little. It would make dropping tabs much more fluid.

This is how it works in Edge. Just play around with it for a minute or two, drag and drop tabs to existing and new windows, and you see how much better it is, much more responsive and fluid than Opera. You can just drag tabs to other windows without trying. It just works, which is not the case with Opera. I wish Opera could work as well too. And I don't see why not, just copy what the Edge have done.

@khellstre In opera it was like that for years until last update a week ago!

@palencar I thought that also, as I haven't run in to this problem earlier, but wasn't 100% sure.

But IMO there are some other issues, things to improve, as moving tabs around feels much more fluid for example in Firefox or in Edge.
