- Download the standalone version you need
- Disable your internet connection
- Install
- Open advanced firewall settings
- Right Click on Incoming Rules and add a new rule
- Select Program (exe) and press next
- In the exe path type "%ProgramFiles%$Opera developer$$VERSION$\opera_autoupdate.exe"
e.g. "%ProgramFiles%\Opera developer\92.0.4519.0\opera_autoupdate.exe" and press next
- Select Deny (disable) connection option and press next
- Mark all network profiles (Domain, Private & Public) and press next
- Finally add a name, description and press finish
- Do the same in Outgoing rules
- Enable your internet connection
Notes:
$Opera$ = Your Opera edition
$VERSION$ = Your Opera build version -

On W7 To manually allow or deny a program through the firewall do the following:
- Open the Control Panel from the Start menu.
- Select System and Security.
- Select Windows Firewall.
- Access "Advanced settigns" in the left panel of the window.
- Follow the steps I told you above.

@ranger375 I tried whay you mentionned but I dont have at all the options you listed above this comment.
Can you in the same time, translate your advice in french ?
Thanks.
I tried a new solution today, I installed an old version of Opera browser (from june 2022), but once installed, Opera changes the version immediatley. I even deleted all the "autoupadate" files and tasks but however, the opera browser comes back into the newest version.
I'm very tired of this.
The big probleme is that my computer doesnt work at all and is totally blocked with the new version of opera browser of the 31 st october. -

You can select text, copy the selection, and paste into the left textarea at https://translate.google.com/?sl=en&tl=fr&op=translate to get a French translation. While not perfect, it should be good enough to follow ranger375's directions to block opera_autoupdate.exe to block updates. You can also ask in https://forums.opera.com/category/36/français, point users to this thread and ask them to translate the parts you want.

@burnout426 Hello, I come back to give you a quick feedback.
I tried all the solutions you gave.
No one worked.
So I tried my own solution, which was : To uninstall the new opera version, and install an old version (88).
I deleted the tasksfiles and the opera update exe's and app.'s files
It worked 1 day.
The day after, it automatically uptade the browser to one level next version.
And 3 days later, the opera browser made an automatic update, and installed the latest new version.
So now i had to uninstall it again and install the old version, delete all the files and taskfiles...
I m now waiting.
I guess it will not work again.
So can I ask you if you can ask for help in the forum for me ?
Because there is absolutely no solution to fix this problem.
It would be nice from you.
Thanks. -

@ranger375 I dont have any options you mentionned in your comment :
"- Download the standalone version you need :
???????????-
Disable your internet connection : I cant disable it because the installation of opera browser needs an internet connection.
-
Install : Install what ??????
-
Open advanced firewall settings : This option doesnt exist in the settings of Windows 7.
-
Right Click on Incoming Rules and add a new rule
Select Program (exe) and press next
In the exe path type "%ProgramFiles%$Opera developer$$VERSION$\opera_autoupdate.exe" :
These options dont exist with Windows 7.....
- e.g. "%ProgramFiles%\Opera developer\92.0.4519.0\opera_autoupdate.exe" and press next
Select Deny (disable) connection option and press next
Mark all network profiles (Domain, Private & Public) and press next
Finally add a name, description and press finish
Do the same in Outgoing rules
Enable your internet connection :
Again, these options dont exist with Windows 7 and you can check by yourself.

This doesn't make sense. You already have your thread here asking about it. If I create a new thread where I ask the same thing, it'd just be duplicating what you already asked. Maybe you mean something else and your English isn't coming across accurately.

@burnout426 Like I said, no one of the solutions worked. I tried everything. And Opera does always the update. I'm sorry but why should I say that this is ok ?
I followed step by step all the advices and no one is working.
In extra, there is no way to be in contact with someone working in Opera.
It's just unbelievable. -

@leocg I read your advices, I applied them and no one is working...
The automatic update system of the opera browser does always the update, even when the old version is installed...
It seems that no one in the world has the solution to fix that probleme.
Do you know an ingenior working for Opera or Google, who can help us ??
For the moment I cant use the opera browser because the new version is too unstable.
My computer is freezed by the browser opera. -

That's strange because it works here and seems to work for others.
The automatic update system of the opera browser does always the update, even when the old version is installed...
It should work no matter the version being used, unless you block the automatic update.
It seems that no one in the world has the solution to fix that probleme.
Without knowing what is causing it, people can only guess.
For the moment I cant use the opera browser because the new version is too unstable.
My computer is freezed by the browser opera. It also happens in Beta and Developer versions?

@leocg I only use the archived opera version in their website. I installed the version of june 2022. But once installed, despite the fact that I deleted all the tasksfiles, it automatically updates this old version to the newest version. I am in burnout because of this problem. I cant use my computer with opera browser. I'm very upset. The new version of Opera uses the maximum capacity of the processor and CU. It freezes the computer.

@operator777 Are you installing using the offline installer and without being connected to the internet?
-
operator777 last edited by operator777
@leocg No way to do that. Without an internet connection, it doesnt download the file.

@operator777 This topic is to discuss the fact that you can't block automatic updates. If you want to discuss the problem with Opera crashing, please open a new one.
