Impossible to disable the automatic update of Opera browser

Not sure how accurate it is, but this is my post translated by https://translate.google.com/:
And, these search results with pics etc. should be in French.
You could also ask in https://forums.opera.com/category/36/français.

@burnout426 I confirm you that it doesnt work at all.
Can you launch the question at the forum?
Because Opera webmasters never assist at all.
There is actually one question and one problem that nobody can answer or fix in the entire world : How to disable the automatic update system of Opera browser? -

Hmm, sounds like something else must be updating Opera GX. Kaspersky is known to update programs for you. If you have it, disable that feature in Kaspersky.
Can you launch the question at the forum?
There's nothing more to do currently. But, if we can reproduce the problem, a bug can be filed.

You could clear everything in your "C:\Windows\temp" folder and "C:\Users\yourusername\AppData\Local\temp" folder to make sure there's no Opera installer stuff left behind that might be trying to run over and over. Unlikely, but you can try to see if that helps.
You could also uninstall Opera (don't choose to delete your data when uninstalling), delete the install folder if it remains, and then reinstall Opera, and disable autoupdate things again just to see if it helps.

@burnout426 Hi. I found no solution on internet. Nobody really knows how to fix that. But I tried my self, a solution. I uninstalled the new version of opera and looked for the oldest versions. I found the version of june. I installed it, runned, works good but again no way to keep this old version because opera forces me to uptade to the new version. It made me a headheache. I stop searching for today. I have to find a 100% sure solution to fix this problem because Opera has no assistance.

You can try a standalone installation of any version you want. Read the part about the installer command-line switch to not launch Opera after installation so that you can delete opera_autoupdate.exe before Opera starts. With a standalone installation, there are no scheduled tasks added to the registry so no worrying about updates via scheduled tasks. I do this all the time and have a zillion standalone installations that don't update and stay at the version I installed. Works no problem.

@burnout426 I already tried this method. I deleted these files or tasks, but the browser did even automatically the update. I'm solutionless. And also lost motivation.

- Download the standalone version you need
- Disable your internet connection
- Install
- Open advanced firewall settings
- Right Click on Incoming Rules and add a new rule
- Select Program (exe) and press next
- In the exe path type "%ProgramFiles%$Opera developer$$VERSION$\opera_autoupdate.exe"
e.g. "%ProgramFiles%\Opera developer\92.0.4519.0\opera_autoupdate.exe" and press next
- Select Deny (disable) connection option and press next
- Mark all network profiles (Domain, Private & Public) and press next
- Finally add a name, description and press finish
- Do the same in Outgoing rules
- Enable your internet connection
Notes:
$Opera$ = Your Opera edition
$VERSION$ = Your Opera build version -

On W7 To manually allow or deny a program through the firewall do the following:
- Open the Control Panel from the Start menu.
- Select System and Security.
- Select Windows Firewall.
- Access "Advanced settigns" in the left panel of the window.
- Follow the steps I told you above.

@ranger375 I tried whay you mentionned but I dont have at all the options you listed above this comment.
Can you in the same time, translate your advice in french ?
Thanks.
I tried a new solution today, I installed an old version of Opera browser (from june 2022), but once installed, Opera changes the version immediatley. I even deleted all the "autoupadate" files and tasks but however, the opera browser comes back into the newest version.
I'm very tired of this.
The big probleme is that my computer doesnt work at all and is totally blocked with the new version of opera browser of the 31 st october. -

You can select text, copy the selection, and paste into the left textarea at https://translate.google.com/?sl=en&tl=fr&op=translate to get a French translation. While not perfect, it should be good enough to follow ranger375's directions to block opera_autoupdate.exe to block updates. You can also ask in https://forums.opera.com/category/36/français, point users to this thread and ask them to translate the parts you want.

@burnout426 Hello, I come back to give you a quick feedback.
I tried all the solutions you gave.
No one worked.
So I tried my own solution, which was : To uninstall the new opera version, and install an old version (88).
I deleted the tasksfiles and the opera update exe's and app.'s files
It worked 1 day.
The day after, it automatically uptade the browser to one level next version.
And 3 days later, the opera browser made an automatic update, and installed the latest new version.
So now i had to uninstall it again and install the old version, delete all the files and taskfiles...
I m now waiting.
I guess it will not work again.
So can I ask you if you can ask for help in the forum for me ?
Because there is absolutely no solution to fix this problem.
It would be nice from you.
Thanks. -

@ranger375 I dont have any options you mentionned in your comment :
"- Download the standalone version you need :
???????????-
Disable your internet connection : I cant disable it because the installation of opera browser needs an internet connection.
-
Install : Install what ??????
-
Open advanced firewall settings : This option doesnt exist in the settings of Windows 7.
-
Right Click on Incoming Rules and add a new rule
Select Program (exe) and press next
In the exe path type "%ProgramFiles%$Opera developer$$VERSION$\opera_autoupdate.exe" :
These options dont exist with Windows 7.....
- e.g. "%ProgramFiles%\Opera developer\92.0.4519.0\opera_autoupdate.exe" and press next
Select Deny (disable) connection option and press next
Mark all network profiles (Domain, Private & Public) and press next
Finally add a name, description and press finish
Do the same in Outgoing rules
Enable your internet connection :
Again, these options dont exist with Windows 7 and you can check by yourself.

This doesn't make sense. You already have your thread here asking about it. If I create a new thread where I ask the same thing, it'd just be duplicating what you already asked. Maybe you mean something else and your English isn't coming across accurately.
