all of a sudden I'm getting this error message when I try to open Opera:
Application error. The application was unable to start correctly (Ox0000022) Click OK to close the application.
Can someone please help this old Luddite - what's going, on, how do I fix this? If I have to re-install Opera do I lose all of my bookmarks? Thanks.

@ljfried I get a timed out message most of the time but today I tried 12 times to download my Opera browser and finally got through, except one of the 12 times I was offered an Edge browser by MicroSoft. I think this is why you 2 are getting an error message as it appears that MS is trying to knockout the little guys. I like Opera and it has a reputation of being one of the top 10 most secure of the browsers which are still left. If Republicans get back in power, I 4 one hope that they do some hard trust busting on these big companies like MS and AT&T!!

I started getting that message today. Did you find a way around the problem?

No - not only that, I uninstalled Opera, then tried to re-install it and I couldn't -- in the middle of the installation I got this same error message - tried this three times, same problem every time

@macfish47 thank you - is Opera "light" the same as "Opera GX"? - Opera GX is advertised as a browser for gamers - is that the one you mean? thank you

@macfish47 how did you synchronize your settings? I downloaded GX - it recognized my name but it didn't ask for my username or password -

@macfish47 thank you but I was not able to install Mini - I got the same error message (unable to start correctly) - it says that , "mini" is for Android phones and tablets, not Windows 10 - thank you for your generous help -

@macfish47 Yes, me too. I have to re-install my speed dials one by one but that's OK. Thank you again for your help with this!!

Seems this is a common problem when an update or installation fails to complete successfully. I searched various sites and forums and found that others tried removing all traces of Opera (including associated hidden folders and registry keys) from their computers with about 50% success. Others renamed various Opera folders or installation/upgrade files with some success.
There've been so many problem with Opera compared to other browsers I've used that I'll just use Brave for now and see if I can resolve the problem later when I have more time to investigate and 'test'. My other devices w/Opera installed still show the sync'd speed dials and bookmarks from my computer install. It's just the Windows version that's a repeating problem. -
