      Hello,
I've been trying to figure out what is causing this issue but had no luck so far.
      The problem:
even with no extensions enabled and no tabs open, Opera goes from 0% to 15% for around 1 second, every 30 seconds.

I made this graph on Excel using data collected with hwInfo.

      6fff7804-6030-4230-92c2-1150237ddadb-image.png

I know it doesn't say much but you can see how the issue appears regularly on intervals.
While I was collecting this data I had no other applications running, no tabs open and no extensions enabled.

Would be super grateful if someone could help me with this.
      I'm using Opera v 89.0.4447.48

@hvalenti Use Shift + Esc to see the processes running in Opera and how much CPU they are using.

@leocg Thank you! I did not know about this tool. I checked and the process 'Opera' was going to 100% every 30 seconds. I then updated to v89.0.4447.51 and the issue seems to be gone. If it happens again, is there anything I could do?

when you have high usage cpu also check update usally when is high usage cpu update is available. After install new update high usage cpu dissappear... When try check task scheduler like here help me @burnout426

@burnout426 said in how set automatically update:

he scheduled task for Opera will update Opera automatically without any notification if Opera is closed and your computer is on and awake. But, the task only runs 5 minutes after Windows startup and at a specific time each day. If that specific time passes while your computer isn't on or asleep, the task is supposed to run when your computer comes on or wakes up (maybe after 10 minutes). But, it will only do it once until the next scheduled time the next day. So, timing is key on that. So, if you're using Opera all the time and not restarting Windows all the time, when you're checking manually, you're beating the scheduled task to the punch usually.
Now, after starting Opera myself, sometimes, after a tad, I've seen Opera notify me (red dot in the top-left corner of the window) that there's a new update. Sometimes, I'll then goto the URL opera://about and Opera will check and fetch the update. Sometimes, the update has already been downloaded and finished and it's just waiting for me to restart Opera. I don't how each of those 2 behaviors are triggered though. The automatic download when Opera is running might happen when the scheduled task runs while Opera is open. I guess you could test this when you know there's an update by right-clicking on the task in the Windows task scheduler and choosing "run" when Opera is open. For just the red dot/red menu button notification itself, I think Opera might just be checking for updates when it starts up where it just notifies you, especially since the Opera autoupdate process launches and closes when Opera starts up. You could temporarily disable Opera's scheduled task and try opening and closing Opera multiple times when you know there's an update to see if Opera notifies you of the update. Also, there might be a difference in behavior depending on the update if Opera has a way to flag an update as critical and enforce it.
There might also be some differences between the type of install. I usually use an all-user install to "C:\Program Files\Opera" where the scheduled task is run as the SYSTEM user account, where a current-user install runs as my user account.
Note that for a standalone/portable installation at least, that doesn't have an associated scheduled task, it'll always update on you and automatically fetch the update with no problem when you start Opera without having to even goto the opera://about or opera://update page. It's so fast and certain that there's a command-line install switch mentioned in this post to not launch Opera after installing as it'll update on you when you don't want it to.
Anyway, those things have always been my experiences with Opera autoupdate.

This maybe help to you also

                Nevermind, the issue is back.
I checked for updates and there is no update available.
I'm running v89.0.4447.51 and with no tabs open and no extensions enabled, the process "Browser" goes to 100% around every 30 seconds.
                Help?

If you open an incognito/private window and then close the main one, does it still happen?

Could it be something related to your speed dial window? If instead of the speed dial you have opera://about, does it also happen?

I guess he will just see one of the opera.exe processes using more CPU and that's it. The internal Opera task manager he already checked should be enough I think.

                      Hi,

I have the same issue with Opera 89.0.4447.71, but OS is Linux. The load of one CPU goes every 30s to 100%, the task in Opera Taskmanger is the Browser.

This happens also, if I open about:config.
