@rockhen67 Its shame this isn't getting greater attention... First time during all these years I'm considering switching of browser.

I have the exact same problem, I use the latest stable version of Opera on Ubuntu. It started happening a few days ago and it's extremely annoying. If it's not fixed soom, I may have to resort to using another browser as well. Googling it I see it's not the first time this happened either, but I couldn't find any solution other than waiting for a future update that may fix it.

Ok, I kinda found a workaround for this annoying problem.

Looks like it's tied to another bug which makes opera start in windowed mode all the time.
So when I start opera in a window the context menu works fine, but as soon as I use the maximize button to go full screen it stops working.
So, instead of using the button on the window use the keyboard shortcut ALT+F10 (or whichever shortcut you have for this, you can find out in settings) to switch between window and full screen. Then the issue isn't present.
You can use the minimize button normally, looks like only the maximize button causes this.
            Hope it helps 🙂

            P.S. That's on Ubuntu 22.04

I am also suffering from this problem, Debian 11, Gnome 3.38.5, Opera 89.0.4447.51 Is anyone at Opera actually looking at fixing this? I've had the problem now for several weeks and it's beyond annoying. I mean really folks been an Opera user for longer than I can remember but what with the constant video issues and now the right mouse click context menu issue again " not the first time " this is really starting to get lame.

Alt+F10 does help, but even with that workaround the right click stops working after a while. Seriously, there have been several updates to Opera but the issue is still not fixed! Like come on, don't make me switch to Chrome, I've been so used to Opera (for everything other then streaming, another issue that's not fixed)!

@piggytato Yeah seen quite a few updates since this first reared it's head again but I also am thinking I might have to switch browsers, I don't want to because once I do I will abandon Opera for good and I've been using it a very long time, but constantly having to restart browser breaks my work flow and to be honest this is mature software I shouldn't have to be messing around with workarounds just because someone at Opera messed up once again.

I'm puzzled and disappointed as to why it's taken so long to address this issue. I've been using Vivaldi until Opera fixes this issue. It has a very similar user interface.

@yogimanuk Agreed. Getting real tired of them breaking their own browser, with their own updates. Not to mention, its inexcusable to take almost 2 months, to fix such a huge issue. I mean, seriously.... a browser with no menus, is useless. BTW, same issue here on Mint 20.2 and Opera 89.0.4447.51. The menus do seem to finally come back somehow, if I leave the browser open long enough, which is even more puzzling.

Looks like its solved in 89.0.4447.83, at least I haven't seen it in the last few days.

@yakuzakyuu This issue momentarily resolves when you minimize the Opera browser and then maximize it again. Clicking on the "Menu" tab also doesn't work when this bug happens.

@mrg29a Opera Stable (Thats a laugh) AMD64 90.0.4480.54 just dropped on Debian 11 running Gnome 3.38.5 Wayland and guess what it told me about all it's new features while ignoring the fact yet again that it's broken and has been for months.

I am starting to think that they are incapable of fixing the the bug and so they are ignoring it.

Never mind I guess a different browser will be part of my fresh install and Opera will be a distant memory. It's a shame I've always been rather fond of Opera but hey I was fond of my old car and I sent that to be crushed. I guess Opera will go the same way.

@rockhen67 That's interesting. As far as I know Opera, Brave, Vivaldi all start with a Chromium base. So the question is this. Are those affected being built on a specific version of Chromium that Brave currently is not.

                                        Thanks for the update.

Maybe it is because there are only a few of us, not enough big amount of users to fix the problem to satisfy them ? 😕

I have found a workaround on fedora 37 in this regard, If you minimize opera and then maximize opera, it should be working fine.
