@pgper They arent going to fix it. If they were going to fix it, they would have already done so. There are threads about this all over the place. This thread itself is almost a year old.... and still no fix. One of the reasons I stopped using Opera

RE: Syncronization keeps logging out.Synchronization
The Sync issue, was the last straw for me, with Opera. The Devs constantly breaking their own product every time they update it (video issues) extensions that dont work right, and a Sync setup that is ridiculous. The Devs took it upon themselves, to set it up, to where Opera signs you out of Sync..... if your device isnt updated with the latest version of Opera. I dont know what their criteria is for that (3 versions old??) but I know this to be a fact. I kept finding my phone or tablet etc... not syncing my bookmarks. After updating Opera, suddenly it miraculously worked again. I intentionally didnt update Opera after that, just to make sure thats what it was. Sure enough, Sync would not work, unless I updated Opera, even though working on other devices. Im sick and tired of Devs telling me what I can and cant do, or in this case, doing underhanded things to my devices without my consent or knowledge. I went to Brave.... dont like everything about it either, but it just works

Opera phoning home without permissionOpera for Android
I am running Opera 53.0.2569.141117 on a Note 4, with Android 6.01. I just noticed the other day, for the first time ever, Opera telling there is an update available. I have Google set to "not" check for updates on the play store. And, this isnt a notification from Google, its all Opera.... showing up in the main menu.... "Update Available: Tap to install". I see no option in Opera setting, to turn this off. The only thing I see is ""Opera Notifications", which I have turned off. Am I missing something, or is Opera now phoning home on its own, without my permission/knowledge?

RE: WeatherOpera add-ons
@bkelloggsr .... sounds more like an ad/commercial, than anything else, as we are alredy aware of its features. What else could we want? How about features that are halfway accurate, and just work? Glad it works for you, but its evident from all the comments here, it doesnt work/work accurately...... for a lot of people. What else could we want? How about reimbursement for those of us who woke up one morning, and our "Pro Version" (which wasnt worth it by the way) was gone...... never to return. Too many other options out there, to deal with the crap. Then again, I dont use Opera anymore either, as I got tired of the Devs crap of breaking their own product every freaking time they update it. Went to a browser that just works

RE: Transferring Profiles???Opera for Linux
@burnout426 Thank You! I started over by copying a working profile into my .config folder. I deleted the "Login Data" file, and I was able to import my passwords. But, I thought, that doesn't mean that the passwords will sync. So I deleted the folder, copy the working profile folder again, deleted the "Login Data" file, and then logged into sync. My passwords synced and appeared. It was like I was being locked out of my password file by copying a working profile folder, but I had no idea what the issue was. Thank you again!

RE: Syncronization keeps logging out.Synchronization
@friesie .... That was yet another of the many reasons I ditched Opera. I had forgot about it, till I read your post. It was bad enough the Devs set the Sync up to where it would log me out and not Sync until Opera was updated, but all the BS and errors of trying to sign back in.... and being stuck in the viscous loop, was unacceptable. I dont expect software to be perfect, but anymore, software has more bugs than positives (or they wouldnt need to constantly update it) and nobody listens to what the users want. I just refuse to waste my time anymore, with software that is always broken, Devs that intentionally break said software, or arrogant Devs thinking they have the right to change setting/take actions on MY device, without my consent or knowledge

RE: Transferring Profiles???Opera for Linux
@burnout426 Thanks for the info. It reminds me of when Windows changed how they pulled info off of each machine and stored it..... for registration purposes. It could tell the difference in 3 identical machines.
Even though my machines now are not identical, the OS/version, user names and passwords, Opera versions..... all identical. But, it pulls enough info, to see it as different. Thanks again, that was an easy fix, that I couldnt figure out!

RE: Syncronization keeps logging out.Synchronization
@hansaplastique not exactly like speed dial, that I know of. In Brave you can setup "speed dial like" shortcuts on your startup/home screen. BUT, you cant save/transfer/access" them like you can in Opera, to set them up on a different machine. You have to setup each machine individually. But Brave is a whole lot easier to setup one machine, then just copy the entire profile to other machines.... and you have everything, including start page shortcuts, on the other machines

RE: No menu when clicking right button..Opera for Linux
@yogimanuk Agreed. Getting real tired of them breaking their own browser, with their own updates. Not to mention, its inexcusable to take almost 2 months, to fix such a huge issue. I mean, seriously.... a browser with no menus, is useless. BTW, same issue here on Mint 20.2 and Opera 89.0.4447.51. The menus do seem to finally come back somehow, if I leave the browser open long enough, which is even more puzzling.

Unzip the libffmpeg.so and replace the the one that comes with Opera (rename it as backup) that normally is in /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/opera
Close and open Opera and test it in html5test.com, check if now there is H.264 support.
Keep a copy of the libffmpeg.so downloaded from github, you may need it again when Opera is updated again without H.264 video support. If you put the one you download in "/usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/opera/lib_extra" instead of replacing the one that comes with Opera, Opera will use the lib_extra one and it'll be left alone when upgrading.
I have no sub-folder named "lib_extra" in my "/usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/opera" directory

@timleland ... no need. I gave the extension more than enough chances. Besides, I clearly stated I dont even use Opera anymore

RE: WeatherOpera add-ons
@bkelloggsr .... While I am not a Dev, I can assure you I am not "new to computers", so this isnt about me "figuring anything out". Nor do I need anyone to "teach me" about their extension. I was clear what my issues were.... the extension either didnt work, didnt work accurately, and then... kicked me off the Pro Version. Stop trying to lessen peoples issues with the extension, and make excuses for it.... just because you like it.

@idsantos The Opera Developer [beta of the new Opera] works smooth as silk.
people shouldnt have to run beta/developer versions to avoid a broke software. Thats the whole point of a "stable" release

The reason which I posted the message was because I felt that I had found a way to trigger the issue so hopefully someone at Opera can solve the issue.
I unserstand your reason. My reason was that it does it on a virgin install, upon first running it, with zero parameters triggering it
-
RE: No menu when clicking right button..Opera for Linux
@idsantos it does it regardless of playing a video. I removed Opera long ago due to it always being broke and not fixed. Got curious recently and did a fresh install of 99.0..4877.9 with virgin profile. Had right click/menu issues immediately when it opened. Plus the video issue was still broken, even crashing pages that contained video. Inexcusable!
