I get the message in the subject line when I try to connect to my online bank in Opera. I do not get it if I use Chrome or Edge. I do not see any mention of this particular problem in these forums, or at least anything that is recent and looks relevant. I do not see an option to click through to the site. I cannot find out that the (CD) in that message refers to.

Neither Norton nor MalwareBytes thinks I have an infected system.

So my questions are: Why is there no option to click through? And how do you suggest that I proceed to get rid of this almost-certainly-spurious message so that I can log in to this site?

@albatrossity Without an address and/or screenshots, no one will know what you are talking about.

This sounds more like message from your bank, not some Opera notification. Like leocg said, please provide more information.

@leocg The bank is as clueless about it as I am. And since it doesn't seem to be a problem with a couple other browsers (I can log in to the site just fine on Chrome and Edge browsers, as I mentioned earlier), they have told me it must be on my end.

Re screenshots, I'm sot sure how that will add any information, but here is what it looks like when I type the bank address into the address bar and try to navigate to that site.

Screenshot adds information - at least what you meant by 'subject line' 🙂

This message is very likely originating from bank website.
Or from some third-party tracker there - my Opera blocked quite a lot trackers and analytics services from that address.

Can you try some user agent switchers (extensions)? It is possible that some part of their code detects Opera as unsupported browser, have seen that occasionally.

@donq Yes, that is my hypothesis as well. I'd be happy to try "agent switchers (extensions)". But I will need more specific instruction. Which extensions would you suggest?

Sorry, I have no idea - have never used any. I hope some fellow Opera users will help; search forums too.

@albatrossity Screenshots, together with some context, may help to better understanding a problem.

Backing to it, when that message appears? It's just when you (try to) access the site?

@albatrossity You can try doing a test:

Go to opera://flags and search for freeze or reduce. You should see a flag called reduce user agent request header or something like that.
Enable it and check if anything changes.

@leocg Yes, I don't see it at any other time other than when I try to access that site. And I have used Opera to access that site for years without seeing that message. And I don't see it with other browsers.

@leocg Thanks for that suggestion. Unfortunately it had no effect when I enabled that experiment. I got the same error message when I tried to access the site.

And yes, I relaunched the browser after enabling it.

@donq Sorry about the unclarity. Subject line referred to the subject of the opening post in this thread.

Have you enabled VPN in Opera?

@albatrossity Right, but it doesn't seem to be something from Opera.

@leocg Yes. I do understand that it is not an Opera error message; it is a response from the website server. Nonetheless it only appears when I use Opera and does not appear when I use other browsers to access that website. So I am asking questions on a forum for the browser that seems to be dysfunctional in that situation.

I tried the suggestion from donq to clear cookies for this site only; I'm already running a VPN and shutting it off or on made no difference in this situation. After clearing the cookies, I shut down the browser and rebooted the computer (both of which failed to help in previous attempts to fix the problem. That worked; some cookie from that site was apparently responsible for the issue.

                                  Thanks for your help.
