I have set up my speed dial tab pages.
Unfortunately every now and then some extra page I don't want or some ad or page above the speed dial pages is added automatically.
      How to turn it off!

@gonzolex You should be able to disable promoted speed dials in settings.

Same problem here (the solution previously given did not solve the problem) : I have a full page of speed dial icons, which I use every day. Suddenly, the two most used icons appeared over the rest of th bunch. I did not ask for that. When I try to bring them back among the group, they copy themselves. If I delete them, they leave a large empty space under the Google research bar. Which means that I now have to scroll down my screen to see my icons. How can I get rid of that large empty space (about 6 inches) between the Google research bar and the speed dial icons ?

@xihihan Following my earlier request, I uninstalled Opera (but kept my personal information) and reinstalled it. The big gap between the research bar and the speed dial incons vanished and all icons are back to their initial spot in the middle of the page. Problem solved.

... Update : Problem went away for one day only, then came back. My husband has same problem on his computer : since last Opera update, we have an unwanted status bar in GMail, and problems add up on the Opera home page, such as a mix of languages (French and English), icons below the bottom of the screen and big gaps on the screen. Unfortunately, we will have to switch to another browser, unless some patches are issued promptly.
