At https://html5test.com/, does it say "yes" for both h.264 and aac?

What version of Windows do you have? Is it an "N" edition of that version?

At https://bitmovin.com/demos/drm, does the video play and do you hear sound? Does it say "Using Widevine" above the video and show that MSE and EME below the video are supported?

Have you tried with hardware acceleration off? Goto the URL opera://settings/system, disable hardware acceleration, restart Opera, and try again. Turn it back on if it doesn't help.

You can goto the URL opera://flags/#reduce-user-agent, enable the flag, and restart Opera to see if it helps.

You can try in a test standalone installation to see if it works there. If so, that'll tell you there's something not right with your normal Opera (extension, setting, adblocker or corrupted profile etc.).

@femwynn All URLs are legit and safe. We can start slow though.

What version Windows do you have? And, do you know if it's an "N" edition of that version.

@femwynn Okay. Does https://bitmovin.com/demos/drm show "Using Widevine" above the video after the page fully loads?

@femwynn Okay, click the Menu at the top left of Opera and goto settings. Click "Advanced" and then "Browser" in the left-hand pane. Then, scroll down to the "System" section, turn off hardware acceleration, and restart Opera?

                  Does that fix it?

@femwynn Okay. Turn that back on and restart Opera.

Then, Menu -> Settings, scroll down to "privacy and security", click "cookies and other site data", click "see all cookies and site data", type netflix.com in the search-cookies field and click "remove all shown". Then log into Netflix again and try things.

@femwynn Type opera://flags in the address field and press enter. In the search field on the flags page, search for reduce. Then, enable the "Reduce User-Agent request header" flag and restart Opera to see if that helps. If not, turn the flag back to its default.

                            Other things you can try:

                            • Menu -> Extensions -> Extensions and disable any extensions you installed to see if one is the culprit.

                            • If you have Opera's VPN turned on, try it with it off.

                            • If you have Opera's adblocker and tracking protection turned on, you can click the icon in the address field when on netflix.com and turn them off for the site to see if that helps.

                            • Menu -> New private window to see if things work fine there.

                            • You can test in another browser like Vivaldi. to see if it has the problem also. If so, it might be something outside of Opera that's causing the problem like some security/anti-virus software you have.
