A link to the page would help too.

          Hi, leocg!

I am afraid that "a link to the page" would not help - it's a site that streams local TV's, and it says explicitly that they are only accessible for viewers IN this (East European:) country! 😞

What plugins do you have installed?

Which one? Ukraine? Slovakia? Poland? You can consider to point that out and/or also perhaps dub your post in that language section - so that your countrimen could check your case. :sherlock:

                Hi again, joshl!

Thank you for the attention you give to this problem!

As I said, I watch local TV stations, and I am afraid that I shouldn't advertise this site's activities, because sometimes they have to remove streams following requests from content owners! 😞

Anyway, when I posted my question I thought there was some simple setting that I had to change; if a special research has to be performed, I'd rather not waste your time!?

The plugins I have installed are standard, they are installed on the other browsers I mentioned; also, the Flash Player works fine on other video sites - YouTube, Vimeo, etc.

As I said, I thought that the message itself - "Manifest is not a valid M3U8..." would be enough to point to the nature of the problem!?

Opera wouldn't handle the content type itself - it is sending it to a plugin of some sort, and the plugin generates the error message. So ... apparently Opera is sending it to the wrong plugin. But without more information, I can't guess what.

Maybe you have more than one version of Flash installed, and Opera is finding the wrong one?

                    Like with PDF viewers?

                    What is this "manifest", anyway?
Can it be an HTML declaration??

Same on Android but via long press for download, anyway there is not any plug-in only javascript:void(0). Double tap (click) could help sometimes.

                        I've found this on Wiki:

M3U is a computer file format that contains multimedia playlists. It originally was designed for audio files, such as MP3, but various software now uses it to play video file lists. M3U's can also point a media player to an online streaming audio source. Numerous media players and software applications supports the M3U file format.

[M3U8](http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/M3U#M3U8 "The Unicode version of "m3u" is "m3u8", which uses UTF-8 Unicode characters. "m3u" and "m3u8" files are the basis for the HTTP Live Streaming format used by Apple to stream video to iOS devices.")

                        😕

Found a similar problem thread on IsaForums: <a title="This link just WON'T work properly here - so you'll need to copypaste it!">http://forums.isaserver.org/Cannot_load_M3U8%3A_404_not_found/m_2002112440/tm.htm</a>
<blockquote>We have some problems accessing a certain website (http://www.schooltv.nl/beeldbank) which contains some educational movies. Loading the website goes very well, when we try to play the movie we get a error saying:

Cannot load M3U8: 404 not found

                          or

Manifest is not a valid M3U8 file[object Object]

Using different browsers, IE 8, Firefox v15, Google Chrome does al produce the same error. We are using the latest flash player which is 11.4.402.265 and we are running Windows XP + SP3 clients with web proxy and firewall client configured.</blockquote>

I've read that thread and visited that .nl site. And successfully watched a video without a trouble: is this that type?

If it's the same as described in your OP, is your Turbo on? Proxies?
If either/both - turn that off.
