Netflix will not play in 25 beta because it is missing the Wildvine Content Decryption module. You need to uncheck prefer HTML5 player instead of Silverlight in your Netflix account under playback settings. If you also use Google Chrome that will also enable Silverlight in Chrome too. If you want to keep the HTML5 player in Chrome then DO NOT UNCHECK prefer HTML5 player in Netflix. Instead in Opera install User-Account Switcher extension in Opera https://addons.opera.com/en/extensions/details/user-agent-switcher/?display=en and when you use Netflix in Opera click that extension button and select Firefox>Windows and Netflix will use Silverlight in Opera and HTML5 in Chrome.

Sadly, these solutions fail to make Netflix streaming playable in Opera Beta 25 for Mac, for me in any case.

Silverlight is installed. Yet Netflix asks to install Silverlight whenever a title is selected in an Opera tab. No similar issue in Chrome. User-Account Switcher does not solve the issue. Nor does toggling HTML5 on/off.

It's a pity. I've been enjoying using Opera until this update. Between this issue and the repeat crashing/restarting issue I've been experiencing lately, it looks like I'm going back to Canary.

I don't quite understand why Netflix demands the usage of Silverlight all of a sudden. It worked fine with the previous version of Opera.
Unfortunately the trick of changing the user-agent didn't work for me either.

I noticed that when I installed Silverlight on my Mac it doesn't appear in the plug-ins overview in Opera. Any hints on how to get it working?

Afaik because Chromium doesn't have support for something called WidevineCdm.

I enabled WidevineCdm in Chrome and now I can play html5 netflix videos fine, but I cannot find WidevineCdm in Opera.

So correcting my last post: Opera doesn't have support for this yet.
