      I have downgraded to Opera 77.0.4054.90 https://get.geo.opera.com/pub/opera/desktop/77.0.4054.90/win/

I have downgraded to this version. But you have to disable the automatic download/update. This worked for me https://forums.opera.com/topic/36333/solved-how-to-turn-off-auto-update

Colleagues, the developers in the blog ask for a way to reproduce this bug and specify your system. Please write there too.

Thanks. I just updated to v. 79.0.4143.22. So far I haven't been able to make the problem happen. Of course, the update caused Opera to restart. I'll try again after it's been running for awhile, and if the problem occurs I'll post it on the blog.

I can confirm that some time after a program restart, the problem occurs again. I will post on the blog.

Did that, but of course there's a lot of traffic on a lot of problems there. Hopefully it gets flagged and put on the list.

The address bar bug was reported as DNA-95481. Thanks a lot to all of you that provided us with information that helped us track it down 🙂

                      @johnd78

                      Version 80.0.4170.16
                      64 Bit Windows 7

If I switch my desktop theme to Aero (which is needed to keep videos from tearing (true idiocy on Microsoft's part, BTW), then the problem manifests.

Switching back does not fix it. Only thing that does fix it is exceptionally stupid. I have to shut down and restart Opera.

There. You guys have what you need to replicate the bug.

My suggestion is to simply get rid of the combined address/search bar. We already have a perfectly good search bar right next to the address bar, that works as intended. There is no reason to combine the two functions.

@ravenplume That's not the cause of the problem, so get rid of it probably won't help

To get rid of something, which is a feature, may be a workaround, but no solution. BTW: I dont have a combined bar, but the problem. I also dont have an AERO theme, but have the problem. I am already testing other browser like Vivaldi and Brave.

Do you know about how long it usually takes for a developer version to become public?

@davidr The release cycle is currently of one month. So Opera Stable 81 most probably will be released in November.

@davidr By the way, Opera Developer builds are public.

Let's count. Chromium and Opera has 4-week release cycle now. Opera 81 Developer will be in beta very soon, possibly next week. Plus 4 weeks per cycle.
Perhaps Opera 81 will become Stable in 5 weeks, maybe a little longer.
But the developers can fix the bug for the 80th version earlier.
For now you can check if this bug is fixed in the Developer version yourself using Opera developer (Portable version).

Better check, because this bug was reproduced for me only after changing the theme in Win 7, but it did not appear if this was not done. Perhaps these are 2 different bugs with similar symptoms.
I have no longer a bug with the address bar in Opera 81 Developer. Win 7x64.
