slow youtube connection speed

so if tried a lot of things (hardware acceleration an/off , disabling extensions , resetting the setting/flags , tried it with a fresh installation event tried it with the normal opera also as a fresh installation ) like everything you first think of but my connection speed is always extremly low sometimes so low that youtube take a coffee brake to buffer at 1080p .
if i try the same video at the same time on chrome i get like 40 times the connection speed.
anybody else having/had this problem and has a solution to it?

so this is basically a copy paste from the gx forum because nobody answered but its the same problem

@peterpank I've checked on four different browsers and each one gets the video from a different source (server) and have a different download/connection speed.

@leocg yeah but my connections on opera/gx are always around 6000-10000kbps while i get constant 300000kbps + on chrome its not like this is an isolated incident

@leocg @leocg well if i would know that i wouldnt be here asking if somebody knows why the youtube connection speeds are so poor in opera but i get like 30 times the speed in chrome ?!

@peterpank Most probably, connection is poor on all browsers except Chrome, probably because it gets the videos from the best/fatest servers or, maybe, because other browsers are directed to download the videos from servers that aren't the ideal ones.

@leocg ok so somebody told me to activate the vpn and lo and behold

gone from barely able to play 1080p @60fps to 4k is no problem

so what do we learn from this ? that google gives the finger to german opera users? this just makes no sense...

@leocg but why would the vpn help then ? because when u use the vpn even your provider gets announced as opera and it doesnt mask what browser im using

@peterpank Here the VPN does exactly the opposite, it makes the connection to YouTube becomes really slow.

And the fact that you got a higher speed when using the VPN shows nothing because you were not connected to the same server. So it could have been just a coincidence.
Or, maybe, the VPM made YouTube think that you were in somewhere where prioritizing traffic wasn't necessary.
