Problem seems solved (see other posts), but having invested about 4 hours on this and just about ready to switch back to Foxfire, I'm interested in knowing more:
What caused the problem?
Why did deleting 3 files fix the problem?
What assurance that this will not happen again?Anyone know the answers???

@jquartana I know that I look like a total jerk but I don't see any "instructions in search bar" when I copied and pasted and...do you copy and paste all three things (Install, Profile, Cache) or just Cache?

You have to copy the profile path, open Windows Explorer (which you use to browse folders, or when you open the "Documents" icon, for example), paste the path in the address bar above, and then you can delete those files (if you don't mind losing such data). You can try renaming them to see if that works. Remember Opera must be closed before doing this.

This work for me. Go to your profile folder (My is for example here C:\Users\Ohaha\AppData\Roaming\Opera Software\Opera Stable)
Delete files:
History
History Provider Cache
History-journal
Restart Opera.Yes, that helps it seems, ty.
But again, such issue first time i see. -

@robmiller While Opera is closed, hold down the Windows key and hit r to open the run dialog. Then, paste:
"%AppData%\Opera Software\Opera Stable"
in the dialog and hit enter. (Change to "Opera GX Stable" if using Opera GX.)
You'll now be in your Opera profile directory. Scroll down, select the 3 history files and delete them and try to start Opera to see if that helped.
