The Opera for Windows is Crashing Topic

Is anyone here making use of the Microsoft Family feature (Mircosoft Family & Safety) in Windows (Settings > accounts -> Family & other users in Windows 10, parental controls I think in Windows 7)? If so, that's likely the problem. Opera is being blocked access from running (which causes it to start and close) and you need to allow it in the family settings for each user.
See the edit in this post for more info.

Suddenly this evening, Opera now crashes on every other start. In the task manager I find Opera using one whole CPU core, with no disk access, and no change in the amount of memory in use. I also see "opera crash reporter" running, but nothing is displayed on the screen. If I kill Opera and start it again it works. Then crashes the following time. Is it trying to do an update or something?
EDIT: I've discovered it's actually crashing on EXIT. Hence:
- Successfull start.
- Close Opera, I can't see it's still running but crashed.
- Open Opera, nothing happens.
- Kill in task manager.
- Start normally.
- Goto 2.
EDIT: Version number is 74.0.3911.203
I closed Opera, downloaded it, thinking I might get a newer one that was stuck upgrading, and installed it. No help.
Strangely, when I run Opera, I see "Opera Internet Browser (24)" in the task manager, expanding this, I see the crash reporter running (before it's crashed!) and 23 instances of Opera. Is that normal? -

So, restarting the computer didn't help, yet leaving it overnight did? Another oddity, while it was doing the crashing, my browsing history was empty, yet menu, history, recently closed was ok. And now all the history is back.
I must admit it's the first crashing problem I've had with Opera since it was invented decades ago.

On the off chance that you make another client account on Windows and attempt Opera GX there, it's probably going to turn out great. Yet, not certain for what reason that is the situation.

Hi!
Since yesterday, shortly after installation or when I want to open it for the first time, Opera opens then closes 4 times and I can't browse the internet with this browser
I tried to reinstall, uninstall and then install after having asked for it again on the site, installed on another user... Everything!
But nothing works, I can't do it
so if you have an idea, please help me ! -

@ankorhaa If it doesn't work as another user, I don't know. Trying to sync between different versions (say, if you had both Stable and Developer and were trying to use sync between them) could crash the older version (Stable, in this case). Some types of internet security software (firewalls) can close unknown programs that try to access the internet, but they should at least show you a message and better yet ask whether you want the program to be allowed. As you didn't mention a message from your firewall, I don't think it's that.

(Not sure if this is important but I am trying to use this on a laptop, I only have 16GB of ram and a ADM Ryzen processor)
I’ve been trying for the last hour to get this to work but can’t. Every time I open it, it closes almost immediately after the opening screen when first booting up. I’d like to note there was no error message I just closed
I have uninstalled and reinstalled so many times I’ve lost count. Restarting my computer works for a few seconds before closing. Every time I restarted and reopened it would bring me where I left off and did not even do the title card (or what ever you want to call it) then closed.
That was as far as I got, after those few failed seconds of hope it would do the same thing. Title card then crash.
I would put in the video of me trying to open it but I'm unsure how to and it’s just me doing exactly everything I just talked about

@leocg not sure how to describe it but when I open it it does a small animation of the logo and the words OperaGX then it “should” open the browser for me to use but I wouldn’t be here if it actually worked if I can figure out how to put in a video to better show this I would. ( edit: I think I know a way to do so but not at the moment)

I don't know what to do, I downloaded the browser not more then 20 minutes ago, and it crashed 11 times already. It crashed when I tried to log in to youtube, when just using google, I just used the browser and it kept crashing

I just open a little over a dozen tabs and the browser crashes. first, a notification appears that the crash reporter is not responding. after that either the browser closes, or I have to close it through the task manager. and I don't understand the reason for the crash. memory is only loaded to 70% maximum. hard disk space is available.

At first I thought that I had clogged the browser, and tried to completely remove it. After installation, nothing has changed. this has never happened with older versions of the browser. can I find an old version, even before the visual update, where were the white / black themes added? and how to make sure that it is not updated?

the reason may be outdated equipment. for new systems, any innovations will not seriously affect performance. but my pc is really old.

Since the last update a few days ago, Opera keeps crashing every day. Then reloads slowly without my previous tabs. Very annoying. I was using Opera mainly for its stability. Good bye.
