General Opera GX Feedback Topic V2

On the surface Opera GX looks and sounds like a cool alternative to whatever you're using now but in reality it falls very short if you're more then just an average PC user.
1.Search bar suggestions still persist even with the appropriate setting disabled or with history deleted!
2.The built in ad block automatically has things like google as an exception but even with them removed you still get a glimpse at the ad before it covers it up client side, very sleazy move.
3.Some of my bookmarks like youtube simply don't have a logo?!
4.Lack of customizability to the bookmark/extension/search bar at the top. In firefox you can drag and drop pretty much anything.
5.Disabling the side bar leaves you with "menu" next to the opera logo making it look cluttered.
Overall rating: 3/10, nothing more then eye candy with some features for people who don't fully understand how you use a PC fully. If forced I would rather use Edge than this.

I'm here to express my disappointment with this browser which, however, had greatly attracted me for what it proposes and seeks to represent.
I like some of the functions offered by this browser, although the options are a bit too gimmicky and useless, such as certain notification sounds and the useless gimmicky animation at the launch of the browser, but I do like GX Control, or at least the idea of it, and also GX Cornoer, which is my favourite, but here is an experience that makes this browser rather disappointing.
Indeed, when I'm in front of twitch and see youtube (I did not check for the latter) the consumption of the latter is really high and extremely unstable, while yet, we are supposed to be able to regulate the CPU / RAM consumption and frankly from my experience, it does not change much, while on Opera classic consumption is much less greedy and unstable than Opera GX, so I remain quite confused in understanding to know where to find the advantage supposedly "for the good of gamers" with this browser?

@leocg Small thing but when a tab is muted, the volume symbol on it doesn't show it is muted.

The navigation through the "Bookmarks" is a little frustrating because the link icons are too big or too small and what really annoys you is the thing of just one-click on a link and it opens in another tab, without you being able to choose to select it and drag to organize.

First Impression Post:
Love Darkmode on everything,
Love Free VPn
Love Max CPU Usage
Love Discord/Twitch integrationUnchangable New Tab = Uninstall. I found out in forums that this is an intentional design, which is unfortunate given the benefits this browser has over others. Especially on business CPUs. I would love to be contacted if this changes so I can switch to your product on all my home and work CPUs.
Thank You.

Maybe I just need to scrap Opera and use a browser I'm confident is secure.
Sometimes short and sweet is best, eh?
I'll give sharing my concerns and suggestions a try:I've used the GX version of the Opera browser for a few years now as my default browser. There are some things that annoy me about it I'd like to remove from it or disable.
-
The sidebar. I don't use it, I don't want to see it. I don't want to have to close it constantly and go through several steps to hide it. Please include a right-click menu option to hide it that when we select "hide" it hides immediately with no other required steps.
-
Crapware integration (facebook, twitter, instagram, discord (especially!), etc). I don't want this garbage anywhere near my computer or any of my networks. I don't want any chance of any of my browsing history or traffic or anything associated with or going to these sites.
These sites are not a convenience to me they're an invasive security risk and annoyance. Please provide a way to completely disable and get rid of these sites and everything pertaining to them.
"Just don't click on them. All they do is open the site. If you don't login they're not doing anything. Just ignore them."
They don't need to be present if they're not doing anything, Let us get rid of them if we choose to. Completely remove, not just disable and still have laying in the background. Gone! -
The GX browser's cache is screwy. Please look in to it. I design websites. Even if I hit the refresh buttons both GX and the default version of Opera do not update my changes. I have to go to settings and delete cache, close it and restart it to get changes I've made to appear. All other browsers I use to test my work with refresh and display the changes I make immediately upon pressing the refresh icon or the F5 key. I have an auto-refresh extension for some of them that refreshes whenever there's a change.
I haven't touched browser settings. I wouldn't ever go in to the settings at all if I didn't have to to clear cache to get pages to update. I use default settings on all of the browsers I use so I know what the majority of general (and computer illiterate) users experience with the web sites and apps I create.
Opera is losing a long-term fan and supporter.

I really like the Opera GX browser and am using it instead of chrome. I really like some of the features especially picture in picture But I have a few issues too But my main issue is that it doesn't save your info. What I mean is that in chrome if you are using a different laptop/computer you can log into your profile and have your data history Everything but in Opera GX you can't! Ok, I get it Opera GX has profiles now but still it's not the same profiles like in chrome so yeah. My laptop broke so I got another one but now I have to set everything back up. I used to have a lot of speed dials but now everything is messed up. Please fix this problem opera! I hope you respond.

-Block cookie dialogue doesn’t work (none of the sites care about this feature in Opera example gismodo.com just to name one)
-private browser does nothing. cookie dialogues pop up, pop ups pop up, videos auto play, extra content like ads showing in frames. It is a mess seriously.
-since the dawn of time opera got complete unconcern about auto play videos, playing advertisements. Not just the fact that you cannot save your data bandwidth due to these videos start to play and eat up your monthly data cap but the video start to play even when the page “area” not even in focus. And many more issues that I’m very tired to even think about let alone work for you for free to list it here -I’ve done it many times in the past, sent feedback, wrote to support it is clear that you don’t care.
This is related to all your browsers not just GX. You seriously stuck in the 2015s where browsers begun their evolution. -

There are only 2 things that i wish were different. I often need to drag a tab to my other monitor when doing work. when i am finished and want to drag the tab back, it leaves a window on the other monitor, and just removes the tab. Its a small thing but very slightly annoying. The other thing is when creating an account for something, Google Chrome gives the option to recommend a safe password when you right click on the password box. In OperaGX it does not. just something i like from chrome that i wish this had

Overall GX is fastest browser i have . But it have 2 big problems(for me ofc)
Every time opera updates (1-2 times per Week ) it- Show me starting gif with F**** Sound !
- Enable Sidebar.
If that will happen once a month - Maybe that would not be such a problem but disable this annoying things 2-3 times per week eventually will make me change browser forever.

Hello, there are some themes on the chrome web store that i really like, i wish there was a compatibility between opera gx and chrome themes.
Also on macOS sometimes when opening a file browser to open/save files, the entire window becomes grey and doesnt respond any more. Also sometimes it just crashes.

I have been using OperaGX for around 2 years now, I have never experienced any general problems or problmes with limiting the ram, unlike other browsers they eat the ram really hard I am enjoying the personal use, learning use, and gaming use.
the only thing I am not satisfied with and I am not enjoying at all is:
-the studying use...
Microsoft edge is ways better when it comes to studying, reading, and arranging the opened websites.
in operaGX we don't have "group your opened websites" aka (Vertical tabs feature) and sometimes I reach up to 30 opened website while they are not grouped, and they look painful to my experience.the other thing I hate is that when I open a PDF file.
whenever I open a PDF file I can't use the same features as I can use on Microsoft edge, marking read out loud, draw, type on the document etc...
the general look of "google drive" is awful as well, that is the main only thing why I use 2 browsers instead of only operaGX.summery: we need a new experience for students close to what it is in Microsoft edge or even better!!!

Add an option to disable typing sounds, as it can be distracting and I can't see an existing option anywhere.
Some websites autoplay videos and the video is forced into the corner of my screen with no option to get rid of it, even after the video has finished.
Opera GX doesn't remember the icons of bookmarks when you transfer them over. Unless I'm remembering wrongly, Firefox does it.
You can get rid of the sidebar, but I wish there was an option for it to act like a taskbar. Hover over the left side of the screen and allow it to pop out and become visible, just like the Windows taskbar does.
Youtube Music has a couple of bugs. If you try to full-screen a music video, the entire browser turns to fullscreen mode despite only the sidebar being affected. As well as that, if you minimise the video player, it glitches in and out of the thumbnails behind it.

I recently switched from Chrome to Opera, and I'm enjoying it. I ran into a slight issue earlier, though, and I thought I'd share it. I installed the AdBlock Plus extension for Opera (in addition to the built-in one) and for a while it was working fine. I watch youtube a lot so being able to block ads on that is important to me. At some point randomly, the ads stopped being fully blocked before videos, and, while the ad couldn't play, I'd still have to wait the full duration. I tried disabling AdBlock Plus and keeping the built in one on, but that caused the ad to just fully play normally. After a while, I did the same thing but restarted my browser after I made the change, and now the built-in one works perfectly by itself. It seems like the presence of the independent extension caused the built-in adblock to start doing nothing.
TL;DR: AdBlock Plus extension didn't fully work on YT and caused the built-in adblocker to stop functioning.

This is a really great version of Opera. Please provide Opera GX as a linux debian .deb as well!

It fixes a lot of issues, so I think it should probably not only be marketed to gamers but also creatives who rely on quick response from their system.
Thanks for a good browser.

Hi. For a number of years I've been looking for a new default browser as all the other seem rather processor hungry. I installed Opera GX a few weeks ago and have used it occasionally whilst still using chrome and firefox ( one for work one for non-work). I decided to fully commit to it today but ran into rather a massive dealbreaker for me. So I was wondering if there is any possible way around this or do I have to delete it and keep looking. The dealbreaker for me is not being able to open a new tab at my desired homepage. I've spent the last couple of hours or so googling for solutions only to finally find one that says that Opera don't want this to be possible and want to force you to use the rather unfriendly speed dial. Is this true or is there some way I can make this otherwise excellent browser do what I want of it?
