Add Signal to the sidebar

It is incredible to me that WhatsApp and Facebook Messenger, which both use SignalApp for encryption, are both in the application sidebar, yet SignalApp is not allowed and it is a messenger app, as well. Please, please, please add Signal!
Thank you so much, and keep up the great work!

+1, they got away from the web-browser version, and went to a windows program. I'm sure there was a specific reason for it. But that might score against getting it into the sidebar of Opera.

Chrome apps where not the same as web apps. There is no Signal webapp, though which means Opera can not display it.
Unlike community member statements on the internet, this would be technically possible even without storing messages on signal server side as well as with encryption but in my opinion the main reason is development effort and the costs coming with it. Also Opera won't take over the development costs, since it's not their product.
If Signal ever decides to make a web app, Opera can think about including it in the sidebar. But for now - not even custom plugins can fill a void.
There is a desktop app. You might want to give it a try: https://signal.org/de/download/

Hello,
I can see that this suggestion has already been made in 2017 and 2018.
But I believe it's worth putting this suggestion back on the table, as Signal App has seen an expentional growth since a few weeks, as WhatsApp aims to force users to share data with Facebook to keep using their messaging service.
I think adding Signal now would be a very relevant, useful and clever move from Opera. Making Opera always smarter, effective, pragmatic and ahead of the competition
Thank you very much and congrats for your good work !

@yannmoz Yes please
I have moved to Signal secure messaging; Facebook has started an attack on free speech. So, I felt obligations to remove myself from the platform.

@home-world Then you first need to ask them to create a web version.

Since millions of people are moving away from Whatsapp, many of which migrate to Signal, would you please review this feature once again, please? It would be great to have it integrated into Opera, like Whatsapp is.

I don't think this is an Opera issue Signal - the company/app doesn't have a browser-based version of the service. You must install a desktop app.
