@leocg Hello i think the issue is (1) Sticky adverts (2) Your rules/settings of adverts blocking (3) Opera respect the order/command in HTML 5 tag coding while writing the web page which says the browser should not block the advert just like telling your file manager to hide a file by adding dot (.) before the file name and also telling media scanner not to scan or display media content in a certain folder by creating an empty file with ".nomedia" file in that folder. so same thing happens in web programming too, and opera don't want to disrespect the instructions, i think.

I use Firefox with uBlock origin in my android phone instead of Opera because I don't want to see ads. In pc I use Opera with the same extension.

@dialex If the post were deleted, it would be for trolling. But no, as far as built-in ad blockers go Vivaldi's is even worse. It shows ads on WeatherUnderground, Opera doesn't. If that's all you care about, Opera wins.

@sgunhouse Now I'm bringing Vivaldi, how he handles ads. From what I see so far, opera does not do well with blocking ads, on many sites it shows ads, but more interesting is that when I just reload a page it already blocks them. This clearly shows that she is able to block them but just does not. I haven't seen any advertising in Vivaldi before. It's good to protect your product, but it's also good to listen to people's opinions. Soon there was a problem with synchrinization, no access to data, Bookmarks, The support told me how the problem was with me, but then the forums were filled with other such cases at random. When you have a problem, be correct and say we have a problem, we will fix it soon, sorry. And you are alienating the customers of your product

Its been over a year. Still no luck blocking most ads. However using ad blocker dns on opera custom dns saved me a lot (keep that custom dns please)

                    hi 🙂
I don't understand why everything was fine in the beginning.

Then then despite having pop up blocker and ad blocker on, it doesn't work anymore, they keep showing up.

I tried everything, log out of the account maybe for a bug, I've tried everything, logging out of the account maybe due to a bug, deactivating and reactivating the choices, but nothing.
how do i solve it according to you?

                    Thanks in advance ❤

I do not know if the opera team actually cares about their absolutely ineffective adblocker but I am bringing this back up again.

The native opera adblocker for android is significantly weak compared to well-known adblocker such as Adguard and uBlock. It cannot even block ads that forcibly opens new tabs and some pop-ups. I do not understand why integration of these extensions somehow is still not introduced (unless there are some data collecting and data sharing business that will be hampered once the adblocker is improved).

It is such a shame that this very important and popular feature is something that the developers are continuously choosing to ignore given that multiple updates have passed but the native adblocker still remains pathetic.

Now that you mention it, I have found Opera-For-Android-Tablets' native ad-blocker to be disappointingly lackluster. But, no add-ons allowed, so improvements in the Opera experience are complicated if not impossible.

                        ad-blocking DNS

That's a good idea. If I can't make it work, then I'll have to switch my tablet's browser to Firefox, my other favorite alternative browser. They allow add-ons for Android, and have a million of them. If I miss Synch-ing, then I'll have to move a few of my devices to Firefox, not only this tablet.

Still, frustrated by Opera not allowing extensions on tablets. Most recent annoyance: I did a "private" Internet search, where Opera doesn't allow websites to access my stored cookies. For the private-search returns, half the webpage was filled with requests for cookie permissions and options, which is tedious, unnecessary, and annoying. If Opera for Android would accept add-ons, I would have installed a No-Thank-You-For-Cookie-Permission-Requests add-on. Instead, my only option is to be dissatisfied with Opera.

Ok, easiest is to go to Settings, then search within Settings for "DNS." The next question is how much will a subscription cost for an ad-blocking DNS service, since Opera For Androids' doesn't work so good. Minor point -- I'll be surprised if an add-blocking DNS can block cookie-permission requests...

If your adblocker is not working in Opera, you can try the following troubleshooting steps to resolve the issue:

Update Opera: Make sure you are using the latest version of Opera. Outdated software can sometimes lead to compatibility issues with extensions, including adblockers. To update Opera, go to "Menu" (the Opera icon in the top left corner) > "Update & Recovery" > "Check for updates."

Update Adblocker Extension: If you're using an adblocker extension, ensure it is up to date. Outdated extensions can have compatibility issues. To update your extensions, go to "Menu" > "Extensions" > "Extensions" and then click on "Update" next to the adblocker extension if available.

Check Adblocker Settings: Sometimes, adblocker settings can be configured to allow certain ads or websites. Open the adblocker settings and make sure it's set to block ads and pop-ups effectively. You can usually access the settings by clicking on the adblocker icon in the browser toolbar.

Disable Other Extensions: Sometimes, conflicts between extensions can cause issues. Try disabling other extensions one by one and see if the adblocker starts working.

Whitelist or Exclude Sites: Make sure you haven't accidentally whitelisted the website where ads are not being blocked. Some websites may ask you to disable your adblocker to access content, and if you've agreed to this, ads may not be blocked on that site.

Clear Browser Cache: Clearing your browser cache can sometimes resolve

@shishimaru90 Opera has a built-in VPN and Ad-blocker which helps users to block all kinds of ads and unlock all restricted websites. You can enable the Opera VPN and ad-blocker from the settings.
