I got tired of waiting.... I unfortunately switched to Safari. I hope it gets released before I get used to Safari.

@nintendork07 Me, too! Chrome for ARM Mac is so fast! I hope Opera for ARM Mac soon.

        P.S.
I bought M1 Macbook Air. I used this a few days. I don't still encounter trouble. Opera Stable runs by Rosetta 2 without problems.

        I use Opera Stable 74.0.3911.75.
        macOS Big Sur 11.2.1

@cduguet i actually switched to brave! it is absolutely excellent once you get everything configured. much much faster than Opera, and on par with safari with a better feature set. Plus it actually gets updated more than every 2 months...

Only thing I missed from Opera was the contextual search bar that would bring up search and copy, but I actually found an extension called "Selection Popup:" that does pretty much the same thing.

Maybe i'll look at opera again if they release a native ARM version, but Brave for android is much better than Opera as well, so syncing with my phone is so much smoother

How to know if development is in progress? Without information... the worst is. 😢 😿

If you check the change logs for 73, search "ARM" on page, you'll see they have been working on some bugs occurring on ARM Macs. I guess that's one way of knowing they are working on it.

This is the only entry that doesn't say anything, unfortunately.

@gik-team There are a few issues fixed listed in Opera 75 changelog.

Regarding the Opera 76 changelog, maybe there haven't been anything to be fixed yet.

@leocg said in Native M1 ARM Version of Opera?:

Unfortunately, they are not explicit, it is difficult to understand what exactly we are talking about.
Other browsers are already supports new M1 chip. And the question arises: why is everything so complicated and not obvious with the Opera?

I have been working with opera for 15+ years now and do not want to switch to another at all. 🙂

I think that when they have a build with support for M1, they will mention it if they think it's necessary and worthful.

In the system requirements for Opera for Mac, the processor is not even mentioned. I wonder if it's because it may not be that relevant.

@leocg, the problem is that for M1 users, the current version of the Opera browser is very slow. Yes, it works in general but very slow) Without adding support, this cannot be fixed.
                                    Let's wait and hope ...

                                      Opera 74.0.3911.160 (latest)
                                      macOS 11.2.2

Just migrated all my stuff from my "old" Intel i9 to Apple M1 (using macOS built-in Migration Assistant).
                                      Ref. Opera:
Most Settings gone, all entries in Quick-Start gone - this can be fixed quickly w. little effort.
Luckily it kept the stored passwords.

But. ... Opera is basically Unusable in its current release on M1. Sooooo sloooooow! 😞

I even reset Opera and deleted all settings and everything - same story 😞

Switched to Brave Browser for now, as Safari (which I used and loved since its existence), doesn't feature Plugins and I am Saturated of those idiotic cookie messages and Guugle asking me like 100x per day if I care to accept their silly terms, YuuTuube asking the same and wether I care to log in (No ! I don't :D) showing useless ads. Those were the 1st reasons to leave Safari and join Opera.

Opera is still the best Browser on Intel, not only for the unmatched feature of saving webpages 1:1 as PDF!
The best, except maybe the lack of the standard macOS key-Combo to cycle through windows
(i.e. Command and the 1st key next to the left SHIFT-key mostly the "<"-key :°)

Looking forward to the Devs solving this soon.

                                      Cheers!

@leocg Opera feels significantly slower than brave, edge and chrome on the M1 macs. everything takes longer to load and it's just not a good experience. in speedometer 2.0 (web browsing test) it gets less than half the score (200 vs 100).

i've switched to brave (for the time being) and absolutely love it. I recommend anyone with an m1 mac to switch to it until Opera releases a native M1 version. it's too big of a real world difference to ignore.

                                            Nice! Much better, much faster.

Yet still behind Brave and Safari - at least performance-wise.

But the Devs are on the right path. 🙏🏻
