Opera 23 and Next 24 Installers crash on XP

Regardless of whether I choose the small downloader or the offline full versions.
The crash occurs as soon as the file extraction completes.
Any clues?

What service packs do you have installed on your XP machine ?.

Oh, and what is the basic specification (CPU for example) of your machine ?.

I note that the OP has not responded. However, I have the same issue with 23 and 24. XP SP2, Athlon XP 2000+, 1.25 GHz, 1 GB of RAM. This is from the Dr. Watson report (the periods replace spaces for formatting).

........Exception number: c000001d (illegal instruction)

This is not a crucial matter, since that "other" browser runs very well on this 2002-vintage box when 12.16 isn't being cooperative.

The Blink-based versions require XP SP3 or equivalent. It is possible to add the missing file, though I forget which one it was ...
