Passwords deleted but website still logged

I deleted passwords that were stored in opera with intent [and without logging out of websites] yesterday, but today I went to websites and I was still logged in, are passwords stored in cookies or something else [[not sure how opera logs in without action from me]. After logging out of website I had to re-enter password.

Whether you are logged in is stored in a cookie. Passwords are only used when you log in.

So passwords are in cookies?, Aren't cookies a plain text file?

@jaybiz3 Nope, passwords are not in cookies. What sites store in cookies is if you are logged in or not.

Even if you had never saved your passwords in Opera (or any other browser), if you hadn't logged out, you would be logged in forever or, depending on the site, until you got logged off.
