Hello, i'm new here and need some help. I have a Mac running on Osx El capitan 10.11.6 and can't upgrade it to a newest version because it's too old. my version of Opera is Version :74.0.3911.107. I just want to know how i can put Quant as my favorite search engine instead of Google or others. I have tried to ad Quant in the search engine list but i dont understand the % request and i don't understand how to ad Quant in the default choice list of search engine. Sorry for my english, i'm french...
ave a nice day

@brunolompech It's not possible, only the pre-defined search engines can be set as default.

Hi, even though I change the search engine in Opera settings, only the address bar search engine changes, the search bar is still Google. How do I change it?

Hello, is it possible to sync speed dials between devices?
I can't seem to work out how to do that and this must surely be a feature, right?

I have synced my devices, and have enabled flow on my laptop. When I sync, I see all the speed dials. But the icon of a computer screen with a plus does not show on the laptop speed dial to allow me to add another device's speed dial.
How do I add this icon?
I have the latest version of opera-stable on my laptop.
TIA

@sgunhouse I only see Speed Dial in Bookmarks. Not other speed dials. The folder Speed Dial contains the current bookmarks on the home screen.

Whenever I download an attachment e.g. to an email, the download seems to work but the Opera icon on my taskbar turns red and stays red until I close Opera. The download content seems OK.

I wanted to know why it is not possible to choose a search engine to your liking. By default there is Google, but if I choose Duck Duck as default, every time I open the Browser I always have to change Google because it opens by default. I also downloaded the Duck duck extension and activated it but it doesn't open on next start. Can't you modify the system?

I'm a new CN user and I recently installed the Opera on my pc.
- Can I set the newly added search engine(like bing or yandex) as the default search engine?
- How can I delete a search engine from the default search engine list?
Baidu is what I refuse to use, I don't even want to see it.
Hope your reply, thanks.

- No, Opera does not allow setting user-added search engines as default.
- Built-in search engines can't be deleted. You can set one of the other built-in search engines as default (which only effects searches in the address bar and from the context menu) and you can hide the search box from the start page (which can't otherwise be changed).
In the past it was also possible to edit the file "Local state" in the profile to convince Opera you were in a different country so you would have that country's built-in search engines, but I doubt if China's filter would let you use the international version of Google anyway.
Originally, Opera was concerned about viruses and other malware redirecting searches, that's the original reason they prevented changing search engines beyond those provided with the browser. Of course, in many cases they also get a small fee for referring users to those search engines to help pay for further development on the browser.
