I am trying to change the search engine to Duckduckgo, i can see where to change it and i'd told it's the default search engine but still the google one is still there. Ideally i would like to delete google.
Mac Os 10.13.6 HSAlso i have no O button that everyone keeps on about?

@hawkeyefxr You change the default search engine in settings page.
Remember that only pre-defined ones can be chosen as the default and that start page search engine is a different thing and can't be changed. -

Well hello, I know I already published a topic about this but no one answered me and if they could help me here, well the thing is that before it didn't come out like a white box surrounding the browser, first I had to reinstall windows, therefore I delete everything, but when I install opera gx, now I get this box, it's a 64-bit windows 10, before it didn't, like what I'm pointing to with the blue arrow.
I only get opera gx in the other programs or in other browsers, including microsoft edge, that white box or white border does not appear, I would like if someone could help since the truth is very annoying, and more in my view, yes No because I will have to leave the browser. -

How to add "https://search.brave.com/" as the default search engine for both desktop and mobile for all opera browsers? I can easily add this in other browsers even in chrome and Vivaldi but not in opera. Why? Where is the innovation that opera stood for?

@forestworker90 As known, only pre-defined search engines can be set as default one.

@leocg It is very disappointing that all the browsers give users control over what they can use or search through but opera decides to live in the 15 century by not allowing us to add our own search engine. The problem is not with the brave search but any search like Startpage or ecosia. If you guys are copying everything from chrome then why lessen the default features? I am using chrome and can easily add any search engine of my choice both on desktop and mobile? I guess you guys are above chrome. Good browser but removing such important things just kills the experience. And can you guys tell me what will I do with eBay and Wikipedia as search engine?

@forestworker90 They say that it's to avoid search engines from being hijacked by malicious programs.
Also, we should not forget that searches are the main source of revenue for independent browsers, so Opera is probably protecting it too

@leocg Hacking? Never heard this reasoning from chrome if that was the case, Can you show me one hacking case were adding another search engine by the user has caused it?
About "main source of revenue", I haven't said to remove it, give us the option to add more because I use more than google and duckduckgo. Chrome and almost every browser give users control over what they want and companies dictating over what users should do are just bad, simply wrong.
Is DDG paying you anything to add them?
I love Opera and would love to use it my way,

@forestworker90 It's not uncommon to see malwares changing the browser settings to make searches being redirected to a malicious page.

@forestworker90 When you add a custom search engine and uses it, the browser makers don't get any revenue from the searches made.
For browsers like Chrome and Edge it doesn't make that much difference because Google and Microsoft don't depend on that source of revenue, but for the small independent browser makers losing such revenue may have a huge impact.Duck Duck Go doesn't pay me anything, but for sure it should have some kind of agreement with Opera.

So why there's an issue with adding "https://search.brave.com/" or "https://www.ecosia.org/" or "https://youcare.world/" or even "https://searx.space/"? Is opera against what users want? I am using chrome and firefox (firefox is also independent and lives through users) and both are user-friendly but opera isn't. I feel so much bad using opera with so many limitations.
Will you guys consider adding an option as chrome has under "chrome://settings/searchEngines" or not?

@omegagameryt3 As already said several times, depending on the type of file the dialog to choose where to save the file will always be displayed for security reasons.

I had Opera working perfectly when it became necessary for me to reset Windows 11. Before doing so, I backed up the folder containing my Opera bookmarks. Following the reset of Windows 11, I have re-installed Opera but I can find no way of regaining and displaying my old speed dial icons from the backup I made. Any help with this problem would be very much appreciated. TIA.

Bookmarks (which includes Speed Dials) are stored in the "Bookmarks" file in Opera's profile folder. The thumbnails though are stored in the "BookmarksExtras" file. You need to restore both.

There's no option to turn off the link tooltip.
For me, in regular Opera, I don't see any issue with the tooltip being black at first. Your
opera://flags
page looks funny though. No blue links, text isn't a bright white, and the logo isn't bright with color. Do you have any dark mode extensions like Dark Reader installed?
