Change windows default search(taskbar search) to opera with search engine of choice.
I've set the PC default browser to opera, set the search in opera to duckduckgo, but when I go and use the searchbar it opens bing in microsoft edge. Chrome and Firefox have the feature to change it to their browser, but seems like not opera. Am I doing something wrong, or is it not a feature? -

@Husenberg You can only set the pre-defined search engines as the default one.

Why can you not set custom search engines as default? Every other major browser has this functionality! You can't even get an extension to change it, like you can on Firefox or Chrome. Opera and Chrome are both based of Chromium, so why can't you add that feature?

@craziiace Officially it's to protect search engines from being hijacked by malwares.

I would like to change the search engine to Ecosia. However, in the configuration, it only lets me change the search engine between the ones it has by default. He does not let me select any position on my own. What I can do?

I was wondering how to remove the google search bar. I have selected duckduckgo as default but it still shows google over speed dials.

My PC has been going really slow lately, and when I check in Task Manager there is like 9 instances of Opera running, but I only ever have one Browser open at a time... is this normal?? Seems like they are using a lot of my PC's Memory too, which might be slowing down my PC... help??
OS: Windows 10
Version: Regular Opera for Widows with latest Update -

I can change the search-engine in opera-settings, but google remains on the quickstart page. Also, is the no way to delete searchengines ? I like to get rid of some.

I had to manually create it as a search engine, but I can't seem to find a way to make it my default one for search bar. Any help would be appreciated

New tab--need to be able to specify search other than google. I know people keep asking. Also the start page button needs to open the home start page, not what it does, again with google.
I've searched and searched for fixes for this, saw a reference to FAQ but couldn't find it there (FAQ needs an index). As it is, much has I'd like to make Opera my default html reader, I can't. Back to Firefox for now. I'll try again in a couple months.

@bowserb460 if you really had done that, you would see that usually the reference to the FAQ has a link to the part that answers the question.
