So, finally, after all this time, some websites started to not function on 58 - which forced me to update.
At least I can say that some of those hideous traits of the early 60s that made so many of us revert back, some of those have been fixed. But, this leads me to a couple questions:
First, please note, I am always in incognito mode (except when changing settings).
-
How do I get rid of that ugly purple color. I am always incognito. I don't want to look at this godawful color scheme.
-
Some sites aren't keeping me signed in to multiple portals within the site.
Wikipedia would be the most well-known site this happens to. I sign into English WP, but it doesn't keep me signed in to Spanish WP or Italian WP.
What setting do I need to turn on/off for. -
Again, some sites don't allow- as example, Yahoo (another fairly popular site) does not allow me to even see the comment section of articles. I realize that some articles no longer allow comments, but those say that they don't let comments. The ones that do just have a blank spot where the comment section should be.
Anything I should turn on/off? -
Facebook Marketplace - the account/saved item sections is gone. Of course, I don't use FB often, so it could be another FB redesign. But it was there before I upgraded. So, which setting do I need to chage?
-
This damn side bar (which I have just about emptied out). I don't need to see it when I have a webpage open. I only need it when I am on the 'start page' and need to select a link to click. Not to mention I am afraid it will cause screen burn being there all the time no moving. Can I get rid of it for this, while still keeping it on the start page?
-
Why are there so many search boxes.
6a. Why do I no longer have the choice of search engines even though I clearly see others listed in settings?

It is a problem with cookies while incognito in 82. My settings work fine when not incognito. Oddly, I went back to 58, and everything works again.

Facebook moved it.

I signed up for Opera,
I don't see anything in the extensions I added. -
If I log in after reinstalling Opera later, will the extensions I have added be installed automatically? (Like Google Chrome?)

@free-style Extensions aren't synced if that's what you mean. In consequence, answer for number 2 is no.

I went looking in the latest Opera browser on my Windows 10 system for a way to backup bookmarks. Alas, I found a way to import bookmarks but not a way to make a backup copy. I found an extension to do this but it says that making a backup of bookmarks is now part of Opera. If so, where is that, please?
BTW, my success rate at getting responses to questions here is zero. Please make this the exception.

@drkduncan You backup bookmarks like you backup anything in your computer, you make a copy of the file(s) and/or directory(ies) that contains the data you want to backup.
So if you want to backup your bookmarks, just make a copy of the Bookmarks file located in Opera's profile directory.
By the way, check https://help.opera.com/en/latest/crashes-and-issues/#backup

@umiedotre9 said in General Questions About Opera Topic:
I'm a Vivaldi user, but I do have some questions about the Opera browser. I switched over from Chrome (and before that, Firefox) so I never really used Opera.
When Opera Neon came out, I gave it a try and I liked it for the most part, but my one qualm was that I didn't like having a smaller page display screen in order to fit stuff on the sides of the screen.
From what I've heard, the features of Neon were implemented into the newer versions of Opera. Is this correct? Also, what changed between this version and the older ones?
I also have some concerns about privacy and protecting personal information as I recall reading somewhere that Opera was sold to a Chinese company. Is that still the case?
It depends what you mean by 'older ones'. If you're comparing against Opera 12, then you're talking about two completely different browsers. The Vivaldi browser would be closer to Opera 12 than the current Opera browser (Vivaldi is for power-users, Opera went in the direction of simplicity
