I want that stuff on my home page. I don't want it interfering with my web browsing.

I am ALWAYS in private mode. So having this pink (I consider it purple) blob at the top disgusts me.
I don't need a color to distinguish private mode because I have the hat and sunglasses.

BUT, more importantly, the dark color hides the spinning circle that lets me know when a web page is "connecting".
I find not knowing where I am at (in terms of a data stream) to be more of a problem than the god awful purple.

2. Some sites aren't keeping me signed in to multiple portals within the site.
   Wikipedia would be the most well-known site this happens to. I sign into English WP, but it doesn't keep me signed in to Spanish WP or Italian WP.
   What setting do I need to turn on/off for.

3. Again, some sites don't allow- as example, Yahoo (another fairly popular site) does not allow me to even see the comment section of articles. I realize that some articles no longer allow comments, but those say that they don't let comments. The ones that do just have a blank spot where the comment section should be.
   Anything I should turn on/off?

4. Facebook Marketplace - the account/saved item sections is gone. Of course, I don't use FB often, so it could be another FB redesign. But it was there before I upgraded. So, which setting do I need to chage?

60 was just too much of a hassle.
And it won't be a problem for me since the auto-update feature hasn't worked since 46.

If I have to find a new browser, I will.

I went back to 58.0.3135.90 because I don't want to deal with 60.
Now I am dealing with a red menu button that wants me to "get the latest security update" - which takes me right back to 60.

Yes, I have turned off the scheduled tasks. Yes, I have deleted the auto updater file. Yes, I have rebooted.

What else can I do?

I had thought that the entire point of 'syncing' bookmarks was so that it was the same on all devices. Boy, was I wrong.

my first inclination would be:
make sure your position is at 0 and not -1

Without knowing your level of confidence, if it was me, I would open up the settings file and manually edit the placement.
And then, if it moves after, you can check the file to see where it is moving to.

So, finally, after all this time, some websites started to not function on 58 - which forced me to update.
At least I can say that some of those hideous traits of the early 60s that made so many of us revert back, some of those have been fixed.

But, this leads me to a couple questions:

5. This damn side bar (which I have just about emptied out). I don't need to see it when I have a webpage open. I only need it when I am on the 'start page' and need to select a link to click. Not to mention I am afraid it will cause screen burn being there all the time no moving. Can I get rid of it for this, while still keeping it on the start page?

6. Why are there so many search boxes.

I am running Opera 58.
I stopped updating because, while in incognito, my shortcuts kept opening a non-incognito window.
I run incognito exclusively.

It has been a year (almost 2). Has this problem been fixed?
*FYI, I don't care that you call it new programming nor that you blame it on some open source 3rd party. To me it is a problem. So, the phrasing, from my perspective is correct - has the problem been fixed?

But most, if not all, software allow you to create a "hard copy" of important stuff.

The entire point of a web browser is the internet - aka, webpages.
If you can''t open it in private mode, why bother having private mode.

I did end up getting rid of it.

All that was needed was -
change my current wifi settings to prevent the pc from auto-connecting when I reboot.
reboot.
delete all of the old version folders.
delete the auto-update files.
delete the installer and installer helper files.
delete the notification helper.
delete the task schedules.

AND I added it to the environment.

I don't know which of those things finally made it work. Nor do I care.
Although, I am not sure, but I think the ad block lists aren't updating.

Which just goes to show you how "can't open internal pages in private mode" is a load of donkey dung.
If you can open it one way, you should be able to open it the other way.
