Set Opera as Assistant not available now?

@lexusxp You may download older versions of Opera over the internet. There are infinite sites.
Versions above 57.2 don't have the Assist function. But maybe it's my phone.
Make sure you backup the browser data (bookmarks, history, open tabs), either through opera's account, or by Titantium Backup (root)

Did opera at least acknowledge the existence of this bug !?

@lucasbs Nothing yet. When the Opera update comes out, if something changes, I will try not to forget to write here

@lexusxp hm... So, while we are waiting for the results, I’ll probably use this kind of crutch
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.devhomc.search (found this solution on Reddit)
It's much better then nothing and makes 99% of what needed:
Home button long tap -> search bar with focus on keyboard -> search results in OperaThank you all, nice forum, but question is not closed, of course.
2057 year. Resurrected robotic dinosaurs attacked the last Tesla's colony on Mars, but I still can't press home button to use Opera. -

No. I use "SearchBar Ex" for this option. Try to use it with Opera. It's OK imho

That app seems cool but I like this one here a lot better:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=amirz.assistmapperSeems to solve my issue although I'd prefer if opera put the function back...

Anything ?
Have they fixed this !?
Not gonna update to 60 only to have the trouble of downgrading later

Anything !?
Not gonna update before someone tell me this was fixed
How many months has it been ?
I'm receiving endless popups about updating opera. Wish I could shove these popups on a private area of the developer that removed the feature.
Third party is out of question

In my Opera installation directory, there is nothing named 'opera assistant' and neither in the profile folder. Maybe you are talking about Opera's auto updater?

I may have found a workaround.
- Download an older Opera version (one that had the assist function)
- Enable the assist on Android
- Then update Opera.
Android will keep the assist function, even though Opera made the stupid choice to remove it.

I'm also waiting for this. Will keep flooding this forum until the bastards bring back what they took.
Meanwhile, I posted a workaround above to have it back. In a way.
