Why does Opera keep signing me out of everything?

Somebody said you have to go into Settings to stop freaking auto-logout, but didn't say where. Now I have to recover all of my goddamned passwords again, because Opera decides to not save some passwords for no freaking reason. Nobody asked me to automatically update Opera. I'm not interested in getting into Source Code and rebuilding the browser from scratch. I have WORK to do and my entire life is on-hold trying to solve this crap. Do I have to go back to Firefox?

Hello Everyone,
I had the same problem, I could solve it by activating an option:
Settings > On Start Up > Retain tabs from previous session
I think that should be other way, but this works

Ok so i'm googling this problem and every forum is only viewing it in the scope of a specific browser, however I downloaded Opera because this was happening in Chrome. I have retain tabs turned on however if one of them is youtube, it brings the video back up and i'm now signed out of youtube. I'm using the GX browser also so all the apps on the side bar of the browser have to be logged back in to each time as well. This is super frustrating and it has to be something more than just browser settings.

Has been happening to me recently, a few weeks ago. I have several emails I need to be logged in for various things. Was super annoying having to login every time I turn my laptop on every morning. Currently using another browser till this is resolved.

That's weird. I suggest you try Opera portable to check if it's something specific to your installation or profile.

There's a Windows 10 bug that causes this issue in Chromium-based browsers. See more about it at https://bugs.chromium.org/p/chromium/issues/detail?id=1069383.
Make sure you're using Windows 10 20H2 and that you install KB4598291 from windows update.
If you can't install the newest version of Windows 10 and can't install that update, see this page for a workaround that involves finding one more more scheduled tasks that trigger the bug so that you can disable them.

There is a setting in Google Chrome which allows you to clear your history every time that you close the browser. I assume that this is the same for Opera since it is based on the Chromium engine.
You may want to consider signing into your Opera browser using an Opera account. It's quick, easy and free. You can go to your browser's settings and create one.
If this doesn't work, you might want to try and extension. You could use the Opera Extension Store, or the Chrome Web Store. I am sure that there are plenty out there.
Hope this helps!

So my laptop recently updated, ever since, the signing out issue doesn't happen. I never had this issue before so I was confused, no solutions seem to be working. I hope it doesn't happen again.

@oliverdavis2006 Thank you!! I tried everything with no luck... but your post made me look for a setting in opera like that in chrome.. I found it! it was apparently turned on as a default when I installed the browser.
for anybody with the same problem:
safety & privacy -> cookies and other webdata -> clean cookies and webdata when closing opera. --turn this off. -

okay i found the solution, you go to the setting, in the "Private and security" section, you go to the "Cookies and other site data" you can find a line which is "Clear cookies and site data when you quit opera". Switch that off and you can now save your login.

@waynemccrimmoniiyt unless you don't want to loose a lot of open tabs... Also.. It might not solve it as mine had the wrong setting when it was installed.. But it is so easy to go to settings like I wrote earlier.. No need to uninstall

@isd Some software that is run at startup is deleting your cookies. One program I know that can do this is Ccleaner, if you have that you'll need to change its settings to get it to stop deleting cookies all the time. If you don't use Ccleaner, then check your other "Internet security" or "privacy" software to see if it has a similar option enabled.

Why does my opera log me out of websites then i try to log in again but then says that my password is wrong like discord
-

@bravemarcus If you get a wrong password message, then the password has to be wrong. Maybe Opera has an old password stored? Try an Incognito window and manually type the password to be sure.
