This was a very convenient feature. Doing the same through History is not only long and tedious, but distracting and is a lot more movement to do.

As pointed by @burnout426
you can diasble the following flag:
Goto the URL opera://flags/#search-in-open-tabs, disable the flag, and restart Opera. -

In the latest beta version, you removed the recently closed tabs button. It's one of my favorite features. I want it back!
Please comment if you want it too.

@acerswap It has been pointed out to me that this flag thing might only be a temporary solution. For all we know, they might remove the feature completely at some point.
It's obviously ridiculous, and unfortunate. -

I agree! Keep the Tab Menu, please! It's ingenious! It's especially helpful in FullScreen Mode!

Just writing a comment that I would also like to have it back. I have disabled the flag for now but it would be great to have it as an option. It is a great ease-of-use feature that I love(d) in Opera. There are many more people who think this feature is useful as seen in other threads asking what happened to the feature. I hope Opera devs consider adding it back in officially as an option. Maybe the current search is the default, but allowing a the option to switch to this in the settings would be great.

Surprised by the disappearance of this feature, I come here. I understand that this function can be restored in advanced settings, but many people cannot do it. I believe that this function is one of the basics, and the command "restore a closed card" is insufficient.

I also believe that this option should come back. I don't understand the reason why it's replaced by this non-functional search in the tabs feature... also instead of removing instant search please enhance it more, for example let us be able to change the search engine other than google...

(And hopefully it returns to being the default on all future updates as well)

Return it back!
Opera have replaced it with useless "Search for open tabs". It's a search for a word in tab titles.
Really? Who will use it? One from thousands?Do you think that it the more popular use case than reopening the one of the last of closed tabs?
UPD. Oh, I did not note that there is already the topic of this problem: https://forums.opera.com/topic/39176/bring-back-the-recently-closed-button-on-the-top-bar-on-the-right

I wholeheartedly agree with the posters above. Please please do not remove it, and especially not with a function that promotes bad use of the browser...
Users who close tabs regularly will miss the feature dearly while only psychopaths that enjoy having 200+ tabs open can enjoy the search-in-open-tabs function.

I wholeheartedly agree with the posters above. Please bring it back as a standard feature.
I have absolutely no use for the search-in-tabs feature you seem to be replacing it with, I think only psychopaths find a use for that while they keep 200+ tabs open.

Guys, why on earth did you remove the "last opened tabs" drop-down list button on the right side of the tabs instead of that frankly useless "search through the tabs" button? Could you please bring it back or make this buttons somehow customizable in the settings? Thanks.

I think they are going to add recently closed tabs feature into this search in tabs feature? no? if so, what they are doing is right. because this is a search feature, so it makes sense that they are building it first and then other features will be added. if it's going to stay like this it really makes no sense.
